Second, the only experience I have with Amazon downloads is directly via the Pre--which is limited to the Top 100 of each genre. Is the regular online Amazon store just as limited, or does it have a much bigger selection? And if the latter, can I buy Amazon music downloads via computer and then sync them to my Pre?
Steve and Co at Apple talk a good game, talking about the post DRM world, talking about a world where we can enjoy our mp3s on whatever player we want. Then someone finally makes a handheld as good or better than the iPod and what happens? Pull up the drawbridge and bar the doors.
The European Union will love this. The music industry will love this. I have been an Apple fan for 20 years but I do not want to be told how to enjoy music. Monopolistic practices by Apple as the only viable commercial seller of digital music is simply bad for the consumer and NOT COOL.
I was thinking about getting an iPhone but now I am going to get a Blackberry Bold, and suffer through the USB connection, because I have no interest in giving Jobs my money.
I know that if someone says they don't like Apple, you Apple fangirls have a fit about it and try to claim the person is un-intelligent. But that was funny! Get a sense of humor, laugh at this, and then the next time Steve Jobs tells you to salute, maybe you can just enjoy his products without blindly following his orders.

- I have an IPOD which I use with iTunes (even though it has wiped my IPOD 3 times in 2 years without my knowing until I was in the car and miles from home), and a Palm Pre.

The PRE's last update allowed me to do that.
iTunes is free so why should apple care if I use it on both my IPOD and PRE? Or how its done? Or even Why?
