OK--please be patient with me as though I've been using computers since '88, cellphones and PDAs since '90 and iPods since they first came out, I am a "smartphone noob"--the Pre is my first one (used to have a Samsung Blade). First of all, did I read correctly a few posts back: can I really just sync my latest iTunes purchases to my Pre via USB (or Missing Sync/Dbl. Twist) simply by dragging and dropping individual songs to the appropriate Pre sync program? If so, then halle-frickin'-lujah: my last few iTunes sync to my Pre resulted in duplicate and triplicate songs that hogged its pygmy RAM and kicked off my photos! I would LOVE to be able to selectively sync without either generating duplicates or OTOH (as happened earlier with iPods) wiping out my preceding iTunes library on the mobile device and replacing it with just the newest purchases!

Second, the only experience I have with Amazon downloads is directly via the Pre--which is limited to the Top 100 of each genre. Is the regular online Amazon store just as limited, or does it have a much bigger selection? And if the latter, can I buy Amazon music downloads via computer and then sync them to my Pre?

What a load of nonsense.

Steve and Co at Apple talk a good game, talking about the post DRM world, talking about a world where we can enjoy our mp3s on whatever player we want. Then someone finally makes a handheld as good or better than the iPod and what happens? Pull up the drawbridge and bar the doors.

The European Union will love this. The music industry will love this. I have been an Apple fan for 20 years but I do not want to be told how to enjoy music. Monopolistic practices by Apple as the only viable commercial seller of digital music is simply bad for the consumer and NOT COOL.

I was thinking about getting an iPhone but now I am going to get a Blackberry Bold, and suffer through the USB connection, because I have no interest in giving Jobs my money.

Ha ha, people would actually use iTunes if they don't have to. The absolute worst part about owning an apple product is that you have to figure out ways to NOT use iTunes. But I know how complicated things like file browsers are for some people...

shycelticwitch,

I know that if someone says they don't like Apple, you Apple fangirls have a fit about it and try to claim the person is un-intelligent. But that was funny! Get a sense of humor, laugh at this, and then the next time Steve Jobs tells you to salute, maybe you can just enjoy his products without blindly following his orders.

i have a new pre and am so bummed that I can't get my itunes on it. I have spent a ton of money on stupid itunes and now I can't even listen to it except on my computer. Can someone please send me the link to make this work. I don't want to fight with anyone...I just feel like I am one of those honest people that have actually paid for their downloads so I should be able to put them on whatever devise I want...shouldn't I? Isn't that what I paid for. Someone please help me. Thanks.

I have an IPOD which I use with iTunes (even though it has wiped my IPOD 3 times in 2 years without my knowing until I was in the car and miles from home), and a Palm Pre.
What I want is to be able to transfer some of my library I have for the IPOD to the PRE without having to use yet another crappy peice of playlist software.
The PRE's last update allowed me to do that.
iTunes is free so why should apple care if I use it on both my IPOD and PRE? Or how its done? Or even Why?
