Comments on: Do new PS3 bundles mean Slim is coming soon?

Rumor has it that Best Buy will soon begin offering a PS3 that comes with both Metal Gear Solid 4 and Killzone 2. This would be the second attractive PS3 bundle in the last few weeks. Is Sony trying to clear the channel of old consoles?

It is very amusing how an article on the pricing of a gaming console instigated a full-blown discussion of the economy. If you can afford one, great, if you can't then you go without. Pretty simple logic. I'd like to revisit Europe (Amsterdam specifically) for the third time but I can't afford it. Guess I'll have to stick with my 360 for entertainment until I can afford both the PS3 and/or a trip to Europe. Give these lame-*** postings a rest, if only for the benefit of those of us more educated and with better grammar and spelling skills.

Don't worry guys about trying to convince some of the posters in this forum about the economy. Time has a way of showing everyone just how hard life can be sooner or later. Difficulty and adversity will hit all of us one day regardless of who we are and that is a fact of life. And yes even if you never struggle financially hardship can still come your way. Just look at the latest celebrity news headlines for proof of that....

I need a new Playstation 3 myself, as my old one broke, and they won't fix it for free (At least RROD was free a free fix), but I already own both of those games. So what that means to me, I shall continue to wait for a cheaper PS3 or one with a better (as in, games I do not own) bundle.

If its within a year and you still have your receipt it would have been free. Heck mine broke after 2.5 years I paid $150 for the repair. I thought that that Sony was just going to send me my old ps3 back, but to my suprise they sent me a brand spanking new backward compatible PS3! I found out through several other forums that Sony doesn't repair your PS3 they just send you back another system new (Sony say it's refurbished but trust me it's a new system) and they try to send you back the same model that you sent them. So why wait just pay them $150 and you'll get a another system. I hope this helps.

Any of you wanting a ps3 just go get this. I mean MGS4 is awesome experience and I play all the big 360 hit games but nothing compares to MGS4. I've not played killzone 2 yet but there are plenty of rave reviews over the game. I paid $600 for my PS3 in jan 2007 and don't regret it one bit. It has worked flawlessy for the past 2 and a half years and my PS2 has worked flawlessly since jan 2002 with countless hours on it. I'm now on my 4th 360 since jan 2007 so microsoft is not solving the problem. They are actually just selling more systems because instead of 360 owners going out to support a well designed ps3 system they buy a 2nd 360 as a backup which is the dumbest thing ever. They are supporting crap hardware when they could be getting a whole new experience on a PS3.

I never thought of the aspect of the backup 360's pushing sales! lol I personally don't have the 360, but I do have the PS3. I am curious as to just what the failure rate is of the 360's. Also curious if anyone here used theirs much for HD-DVD playback?

I recognize the language it's Tagalog so this video comes from the Philippines, and I'm not sure Sony produces things in the Philippines. But then again the islands are near China, Singapore, and Malaysia, so it could be possible. I don't see how a newer slimmer PS3 would be cheaper, unless they could dense up the up board more or axe the BD disc and make it DVD media and web-based like the upcoming PSP.

Almost any circuit board can be shrunk and optimized if you spend the time. You can also incorporate new chips designed for laptops and netbooks to reduce size and power.

The grapics chipset and circuit could also be optimize to be smaller, cheaper or cooler (by nVidia).

As far as them dropping the BD player--not going to happen. The games come on Blu-Ray disks. They're not about to change that now. They could however change the player to be smaller and/or cheaper to make.

Wal-Mart also has a 80GB bundle now. It's really obvious what's going on, and the PS3 slim is the newest worst kept secret in the gaming industry.
