Comments on: Questing for gear in hopping Ho Chi Minh City

You can basically find all you need, especially in terms of technology, in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City. And it's all within walking distance.

You should know by now that technology knows no bounds. It doesn't care about our politics, race, or religion. If a communist country or military dictatorship has better technology than a free democracy then it should be noted. And anyway, Vietnam is a great place to visit, technology aside.

Don't read if you don't care about it. Other people like to learn about Vietnam.

"Though not a console gamer, I felt excited about what you can get here and how much you can get it for. Legalities aside, in a way, these stores offer much better service than GameStop or any other retailer or repair store I've run into in the U.S."

What this author seems to write often about from vietnam is the bootleg industry that is stealing left and right and seems to go unpunished. In a previous article he wrote about pirated software in vietnam being sold in the open in stores that didn't have issues with what they were doing.

We get it, enough already. We obviously see you don't see anything wrong with it and seem more than happy to advertise it. I am sure these "businesses" can offer better service since they don't have to pay for the games they are stealing, so there is money left over to hire better qualified "sales people".

This is good to know. I'm going to Vietnam soon. I just returned from the Philippines and I'm planning on living in SE Asia for a while. I'm an internet marketer, so naturally I need to live someplace with fast internet. The Philippines was ok, but not 100% reliable (they have frequent blackouts). Do you know if the internet connection is better in Vietnam compared to the Philippines?

I?m off to Vietnam next week (to find my youth of 1968) anyway I have been tring to get Pentax K7 camera here in Aust but stock is low and I will not have time in Changi airport to shop, last chance would be pick one up in Ho Chi Ming , after reading all the comments I?m a bit confused , does any one know if it would be possible, eg, do they have them in country or do they have camera shops that are upmarket enough to carry them? , thank you
