I bought on of these when they first launched. It's been a great unit so far.

An iPod dock should be integrated into the unit. This way I don't need an unsightly cable dangling from the front of my unit. However, this unit's other features make me want to dump my current receiver and buy it :)

Hey Matthew, thanks for your review! I've been carefully following all of the Home Audio reviews for the '09 receivers. Was really disappointed in the new offerings, until the VSX-1019AH-K. iPod connectivity WITHOUT an extra proprietary dock to buy, GUI, . Quick question about the Pioneer's connectivity: does it have the capability to assign audio inputs to any video input you'd like. I know this was a disappointment in Yamaha's RX-V665. I am amazed that all the top brands are making big strides in '09 to innovate home video tech, yet home audio tech has stayed fairly similar to last year's crop, save for a few more HDMI ports (can no one leave at least one S-Video? Ah well!). Still anticipating your review of Sony's STR-DN1000 and Yamaha's RX-V765. I'm curious if Yamaha sneaked their highly praised RX-V663 audio in there, since it's missing from the RX-V665. Thanks again!

The Sony STR-DN1000 hasn't been released yet, but I've been in touch with Sony to get a review sample as soon as possible. The Denon AVR-790 seems to just be trickling into stores now and I've also requested a review sample from Denon.

Matthew thanks for the great reviews. I have been following you since last year when I bought a PS3 and have been contemplating buying the 920. Until this year's models I did not feel as if the features were worth the money at the "mid-range" price.

Is this the only mid-range with multi-zone video, or are there other companies also providing this feature?

Also should there be any difference in the video quality of the 2nd zone? Is this something you test? If not why not?

Thanks Again

The Sony STR-DN1000 has now been out in stores for a couple of weeks. Any update on when we will see a full review? I'm very interested in the video performance and hope it is as good as the 920.

Thanks!

I'm trying to decide between the pioneer vsx-1019ah-k and the sony str-dn1000. The pioneer has gotten awesome reviews including the one by MM above. The sony hasn't been fully reviewed yet but is much cheaper. Any pending reviews or reader experiences?
