Comments on: Twitter from your Commodore 64

No, really, you can send a tweet from a 20-year-old computer.

Cmon guys....its about dusting off your trusty old computer (I still own a Vic-20), and using with it again. If it wasn't for it, i probably would have been in a different career path then in computers technology. No different then reading your favorite comic book or driving your 1st car.

Thanks Commadore for the memories. And I applaud Johan for not forgetting where it ALL started.

God, I remember playing Nine Princes in Amber on my C64. Oddly enough I decided to read the novels and got through most of them. I then found myself looking for something different and found Peter the Great by Robert K. Massie (total 360). That got me hooked on Russian history and literature. Which grew to European history, then onto Ancient history. Throw in some fiction here and there and then Classical literature. A few years later, a friend gives me a 'puter, then a few years after that I find Audible.com and have been hooked since. Wow, now that I think about it, I guess I do owe it to the C64.

Ok, i need a drink...later...

Why is it that someone writes an article about Twitter and people keep commenting that Twitter is a waste of time? If Twitter is so damn pointless, then DON'T READ ARTICLES THAT TELL YOU ABOUT USING TWITTER. If you don't like Twitter (or Commodores) and you still read this article, you need to invest in some time-management education. Isn't it obvious that the point of this article was to show a new Twitter client on an old (very old) system and not to debate the future of Twitter?

That being said, for the rest of us that either have fond memories of BASIC programming on a Commodore 64 and/or those of us that do use Twitter, this is pretty neat. I honestly didn't know you could get Internet access on one of those boxes (of course, I was 7 when I tinkered on my family C128 and that was over 20 years ago... I feel old now).

Fortunately, technology has improved - I think my Blackberry has more computing power than my old C128.
