So does it have sensor-shift image stabilization or not? Shifting the sensor is still mechanical stabilization...

My bad - have now regained the ability to read.

The Olympus does have (sensor shift) image stabilization. The statement that it lacks mechanical stabilization is incorrect.

Sorry, missed the part that there is no stabilization just in movie mode

How about we read everything before commenting?

Thanks, but we have already corrected our comments, and it's not *entirely* our fault :) - the only mention the article makes about image stabilization is that the Olympus does NOT have it in movie mode, not that it has IS (rated at 4 f-stops) in still photo mode.

No flash and low-res screen, especially when it's the only method of composing photos out of the box, that's going to be a tough sell. Also, I'd like to point out that there probably aren't as many style conscious buyers out there for whom money isn't a factor anymore.

I't a very nice design, the small collapsable lens are especially nice, but not the home run I was hoping for.

Come on - the article does not mention that the camera has a large sensor - supports external flash, etc.

Basically this is a revolutionary camera as far as digital compacts are concerned - high quality sensor in a small camera with interchangeable lenses. That's a winner.

It's not that revolutionary. Panasonic introduced the first Micro 4/3 camera first with the G1. The Olympus may be smaller than the Panasonic, but it also has a flash built-in and a high resolution swivel screen. It too supports multiple accessories.

P.S.: I have nothing against Olympus. I own an E-510. I was just hoping this model would offer more.

Own Nikon DSLRs - so I don't own an Olympus camera so not an Oly fanboy :-). But the small size particularly paired with the 17mm f/2.8 (equiv 35mm) is a clincher in my opinion & that's what's revolutionary. The Panasonic G1 is probably not much smaller than an Olympus E420 or Nikon D40 - not held the Panasonic in my hands so not sure.
