Actually, the XBOX360 has about the same power as the PS3, maybe even faster processor. I see what you're saying about how little an upgrade the next xbox360 might be but I doubt that will be the limiting factor for the game developers.

You need to take a look at Killzone 2 for the PS3. It looks better than any game on the 360 and it uses 60% of the processing power at the heaviest load. You could have a problem with the gameplay or whatnot, but graphics wise it's the best.

Article stating 60%:http://www.psu.com/Killzone-2-only-using-60--of-SPUs-overall-power-News--a0005629-p0.php

Bringing up Killzone 2 doesn't support your contention that the 360 couldn't match the graphics power of the PS3, it just shows a developer spending the time on graphics....that's it.

True.

yeah okay...so where did you get this "info"?

I would buy it...I would really like a new Wii with graphics on par with the PS3 and 360 and with a hard drive or ssd. But this could be great as well. We'll see. Personally I hate waiting wayy to long for a new game system. 10 years is way too lone imo. 5 years, yeah I think that is realistic.

Okay seriously baggyguy1218 and viewwin it's spelled quiet, not quite. Having a quite xbox 360 doesn't mean any sense. I created a cnet account just so I could comment on your illiteracy, and i'm only in ninth grade.

But yes, a quiet xbox 360 would be nice, I can't play games with the volume under 20% or all I can hear is the xbox's fan, they should also upgrade the speed, when I'm checking a message during a game it takes forever to go back and forth between reading the messages and going to the message folder.

well, Sony has said that they want the PS3 to have a ten year cycle, so i dont' know if MS would release a new xbox just yet.

@ Tod Smith

Also it will have lasers to gun down nearby PS3s and Wiis.

Just thought since we were making up specs I'd throw in something really cool...

The new Xbox 360 could be called Xbox 3602, but with a small 2 as in squared.

if it was just quiet I'd buy a replacement in a second....

I dont think BR is likely as it would fracture userbase (double sided disc's?)

Upgrade to graphics would be appreciated - 360 and ps3 games are beginning to look tired now.

I think the new Xbox should be called Xbox Evolution. I also think it would be kind of stupid for Microsoft to make this move at that time considering the current 360 still has at least two years of shelf life. A hardware redisgn with added features? Maybe but a whole new plaform, I hope not.... I just got my Elite in September

From a numerical standpoint there's no problem with acknowledging they're changing directions meaning the XBOX 180 would be fine. Maybe they could partner with Best Buy and call it the Best Box - or go with the whole future theme and call it the Next Box. My guess it'd be geared for travel, possibly a liquid cooled gaming laptop paired with a proprietary docking station - Go Box Go.

I already own two so looks like just NATAL as an add-on for me.

If you all remember at E3 they never referred to natal as the final name for the show cased device it was always project natal inferring to me that it was not the final name much like Nintendo did with the Nintendo Revolution then changing it to the Wii at launch.so a more probable name should be in question.

I don't believe any of this! Just like the rumors of a PS3 slim or a $100 price drop at E3. All unsubstantiated rumors.

I dont think people are ready for new consoles. I mean 360 and PS3 both still have a lot more room to push and we have kind of hit a wall where the vast majority of people don't need much more improvement graphically.

How about making the next xbox be a laptop, with NATAL the whole system could fold up for the road and no need for a controller. I'm sure they could get a good deal on an operating system and hdmi out to your big tv at home. I wish they could really push the whitespace broadband and get us to the point where we can download games and not have to deal with the optical drives.

Ok so it would seem that MS is either upgrading for Natal or just plain catching up to PS3 in hardware. So this tells me what; well people that got themselves and arcade because it was cheaper will have to upgrade to this new, more expensive counsel. (ROTFL)

I just want to know how much $$ will it cost 360 fanboys to catch up to the PS3 quality and hardware?

Guess what "10 year counsel" means? Sure doesn't mean having to buy another system to be able to play games like Infamous and Killzone.

ok Im tired of everyone saying that the 360 has sold 8 million more than the ps3 that make them better well no sh*t they sold more they were released a whole year before so take that in account and its already a proven fact that the ps3 sold 20 million systems faster than the xbox 360 did and as I recall the 360 was about 14 million ahead of the ps3 until about mid way of last year that just shows that there catching up even being released a year later and at double the price I own both systems and i have way more lag withe xbox online than the ps3 and its free and games like resistance and killzone where you can play aginst 30 to 60 people in one game with no lag is pretty impressive to the whole 5 vs 5 0r 4 vs 4 that you get with the 360 no comparison when it comes down to it and a blu ray player allone cost about 200 dollars take that in account you get the ps3 for about $200 with a hard drive so it is about the same price

wolfpacker (love the name...red and black attack :-)),

At this point, adding Blu-Ray to a revamped 360 would actually be good business on Microsofts part. One of the key selling points of the PS3 is that it's the most inexpensive blu-ray player on the market. The XBox 360 could put out a BR capable 360 and still come in at about fifty bucks cheaper than the PS3. Also, you would place more value behind the console because of the included (hopefully) Natal camera. So by giving you an innovative new control scheme, blu-ray capability and a quieter system, Microsoft will have put itself in position to crush the competition for the rest of this generation.

X box cant use the blu ray its partially owned by sony they wouldnt allow it
by pillar81 June 18, 2009 6:25 PM PDT
Wouldn't that mean Sony would get more money if BR drive was included in a new 360?
