Palm announces new developers and applications for its Palm Pre smartphone.

It will still fail, and Apple will sue them for use of iTunes and that will be the end of Palm and early reports are that the phone gets hot, dead pixels, screen discolorization and many other problems.

I will stick with the iPhone, especially after hearing the news of the new iPhone announced today.

That's like saying Microsoft will sue Apple for the iPod working with Windows Media Player, which it does or at least it used to. The Pre doesn't work with Apple DRM'd media. If it did I could see Apple having a case.

Umm, they will sue Palm. Apple does not allow any other device on iTunes, period. Just as the Zune doesn't allow any other device on their software. Common sense, use it sometime.

First of all, Apple will NOT sue Palm. Palm is just waiting for that opportunity, they hold the cards because of Apple's theft of their technology. This is why the Pre uses technology from the iPhone -they are basically challenging them to sue. And I have to figure that the engineers and developers that left Apple to go to Palm, know more than you(and I).

I can see your an apple guy, which is cool. I have the Palm Pre and it's great. I saw none of the problems you mention! I had an iphone, and I'm telling you the Palm Pre is the better phone! The only thing the iphone has over the Pre is it's apps. Which I must admit I do miss. Palm's web os is the reason the phone took honors at CES. The iphone can now record video, so what, it also has a compass, again so what. The Pre runs circles around the iphone and that's the truth. Now if only Palm can wake up and gets some more apps.

Okay, so how many apps to catch-up? Apple stole Palm's thunder today at WWDC. Apple has a new iPhone that matches Pre's specs for $99. Palm should have realized that getting a few Apple drones to defect to develop this thing meant that their connection to the collective would be disconnected and the ideas would stop flowing...

Apple is ahead in some areas and palm is ahead in some areas

Dude, stop being such a pompous d_ouche nozzle! The Pre will do just fine. Obviously it wasn't intended to get people who are gay for the i phone to switch. It makes some good competition for the i phone with similar features and a MUCH LOWER service plan. Why the hell do you care anyway, if it's such a hunk of trash and will fail, why not just sit back and watch? Oh, this just in, the i phone has an app that simulates a dudes anus, jump on it white, I know you can't wait!

I had the iphone and just made the switch to Pre .. I dont regret it. iPhone took 2 years + to get to where it is right now. Apple was the first to make a fantastic touch screen smart phone. other's followed and made very good products.

Good people have a choice now in this phone market.

Why are so many people being such haters about the Pre??? I don't get it. It is a great phone. I love it. Took no time at all to learn. Great screen resolution. Excellent call quality. The initial apps are exactly what I need and then a little extra with the apps they have for download already. Love the touchstone charger. Camera with flash takes great pics for a cell phone. All in all - very happy with my Pre - and its qwerty keyboard. (And I am a Mac user so this isn't an anti-Apple viewpoint.)

I've had the IPhone and loved it initially. However as Apple continued to push out updates the phone functionality and battery life deminished. Now that phone is in the trunk of my car. Now I've purchased the Palm Pre and I can say by far this phone is so superior. It is very functional the ability to muli task is awesome no crashes here. If the Pre had more applications which are soon to come it will put the IPhone on it back,.

I have an iPhone 3G and I also love it. But I think it's too early to say whether or not the Pre will fail or succeed. themrwhite, if you remember, it was the homebrew community that was responsible for Apple deciding to allow applications to be developed for the iPhone. If there wasn't that push by homebrew developers, there would be no App Store. My point is, instead of hoping Palm to fail, you should hope they do well. This will force Apple to develop new strategies for the iPhone. I also must say, I'm not totally impressed with the 3G S. Compass? Cut/Copy/Paste? Voice Dialing? Are these all really groundbreaking features?

Well, I'm sure Palm is LOVIN this blog. It proves a LOT of people are putting their Pre up against the iPhone, which is exactly what they want. If it can compete against the iPhone, the Pre will definitely capture the real target market - Corporate and Enterprise. The Blackberry and iPhone have become synonymous with the term "mobile or cell phone". So, go ahead and hype up the Pre, Palm is loving it because soon, you'll see corporations, small and large, moving to the Palm Pre and it's Synergy around business functions. The Pre will be the Blackberry killer, not the iPhone killer.

I own a small business and I've used Palm OS and Outlook for years. I bought my Pre the day it came out and can't wait to see the catalog grow and grow.

Besides Everything that is stated above if you either were a Palm User or are Interested you can download an App for the Pre that will allow it to run all the old Palm OS Apps from any of the Palm App Stores that are on the web. The number of apps availabel in those way out number the apps in both the Iphone and Blackberry Apps Stores combined. The Palm Developers Network has been around a lot longer than the Iphone and Blackberry Developrs networks. All they are waiting on is the updated SDK and you will see a swarm of apps ported over. In fact I bet most if not all the IPhone and Blackberry Business Apps get ported over. I have already seen requests from companies looking for Palm Pre Developers to port thier Iphone and Blackberry apps over to WebOS for the Pre. My Pre gets here on Friday. My Store allowed me to order it so I don't have to wait in a store when they get thier supply and because they ordered it for me they billed it on my account. I love Sprint they are willing to take care of thier courteous customers. I have always gotten good service from them. I will agree thier network is not as wide as AT&T's but the price and service makes up for it. AT&T has had bad service and high prices in this area since it was southwestern bell mobile then cingular. I would never go back to them they would not even fix thier mistakes with me when they double charged me for a months service.
