Wait, this confuses me. I thought most Nvidia cards supported CUDA. So why do they need to also use DirectCompute? Are the two different somehow?

If I'm shopping for a PC in the future, using Nvidia cards, do I have to look out for whether it supports CUDA, DirectCompute, or both?

I am sure all Dx 11 graphics cards will support DirectCompute.

wow I was expecting NVIDIA to be the first one to do so but AMD came ahead just like they did with the graphics cards compatible with shader model 2 :)

AMD should have the advantage with DX11 titles. They have been using tessilation for a few generations now, while Nvidia has refused to adopt it. And with DX11, tessilation is a requirement.
