Web sites launch all the time, but they also shut their doors. We highlight 15 that bit the dust this year.
Let the debate begin: Was the iPhone more important than iTunes? Was anything bigger than Google finding a great business model? CNET offers its list of the 10 most important stories of the '00s.
My own personal view is that this is the prefect direction for the psp to take. the smaller screen is better for your eyes so you wont get sore eyes from prolonged use and the change in size is so minimal that most people wont even notice.
The lose of the umd (useless media disc) means a huge cut in the size of the psp, no annoying buzzing noise while loading, shorter loading times and a greater battery life not to mention the fact that digital media so always cheaper than disc based media so more games for your £ and for those of you who are worried about missin out on the old psp title you just know that there will be some sort of digital game bundle packages availible for old psp titles.
The inclusion of digital media is a great step forward for portable gaming machines. no more waiting til the shops open, no more disapointments when the game you want is out of stock. all you have to do is select the game you want then download it and it can all be done on the fly while you play somrthing else or enjoy a cup of tea :D
By far the best thing about the psp go is the fact that it IS truely portable! its not the size of a small brick that pulls down your trousers and people arnt gonna laugh at you as you walk down the street with one of these bad boys.
so for me the good point's defo out wieght the bad point's :D
oh and for those of you who want touchscreen get a DSI or Itouch and as for the second analogstick, think about it long and hard... will it really change your life? how many games really need it? none thats how many.
PSP Go is a protable GAMMING device.
honsetly i like the fact that there is no umd, that means i dont have to drag around all of my umds when i travel. also it might bring down the cost of the games since u dont have to purches the umd.
touch screen??? come on!!!
there is no purpuse for it with gamming. plus there are so many problems that come with a touch screen
i'm am extatic about the sdmico mini why? they are far cheeper than the PRO DUO! i bought a 2gig for my phone for about $15 when a DUO cost over $20.
i dont mind the smaller screen you might not even know the diffence when playing.
also a smaller device means it will acctually fit in the tinny so called pocets in girl jeans.
and the price? its only $50 more than my psp3000, and i will buy it. cause i see many up sides for it.
psp go isnt intened to me a soul music and video player like the ipods, itouch, with few games, no is it ment to be a phone like the iphone. so why are u comparing?
cuz im going to get a phone soon and i want ot know if it is going ot be a phone cuz i want it
its not really worth it anyway if you have a psp 3000 already though
or a any large amount of umds games you might have to buy them again
As long as there is a method for users to port existing UMD games to the new system, this PSP Go may still catch on. BUT... I have to agree that only having digital distribution will impact sales with those who do not have DSL or kids with non-tech-savy parents. Digital distribution also makes sharing / trading / resale of games difficult (impossible), while increasing the likelihood of piracy.
Lets face it, the biggest problem for psp, the thorn in its side, Nintendo ds. The Ds has a range of great games the appeal to many different ages groups, it have a touchscreen which is really populare right now and it now has a built in camera.
Psp needs to have the same... and more, what attracted me to psp in the first place was the large screen and the quality of graphics and games available but its not enough anymore!
What sony should have done is have:
-A Large touchscreen display
-Built in Camera
-Second analogue stick
These three things alone would convince me to pay even £500 for new psp!
Other ides that sony really could have done well on are the inclusion of these:
-Blu-ray umd's, it sounds crazy i know but people are mad about high definition at the moment, you stick a label with 'HD Ready' on something and it sells, sony could easily do this since they are pioneers in blu ray tech.
-High def screen (goes well with the blu-ray idea)
-Improved Graphics(One of the main advantages psp has had over DS and just a little more advancement could be enough to tip buyers in psp's favour)
I'm impressed by the built in memory although it could be larger and the design is fine with me!
also the idea that it might be possible to connect a current ps3 controller to the psp makes me drool!

- I was initially excited to hear about the new release. "No UMD Drive?" I don't think I like this as I own 8 movies and about 14 games. While the smaller size and screen I acually find attractive, the slider feature is cool though I've never owned a slider phone. I own an original iPhone and I don't like it for playing games I find the touch awkward on a handheld device. I am a SONY junky. I only wish I owned one of their desktop PCs from the late 90's when they first introduced the UMD. Those PC's had UMD drives in them and if you had one now the new GO with no UMD wouldn't be an issue. Does anyone remember the SONY MINIDISC? Yeah SONY took the CD out of a MINIDISC cartridge and put it in the UMD cartridge and renamed it. CD is the same. If anyone has a UMD for PC drive, hit me up I'd love to take it off your hands. Anyway..... I will agree with everyone that the price is way too high taking into consideration the PSP3000 is only $169 and while you wouldn't get Bluetooth you wouldn't be forced to sale your UMD collection. Now the Bluetooth I must admit is what has my attention. I put together a multimedia sound system in my car and I was just in the process of designing a PSP upgrade to ad gaming to my ride. With the GO offering Bluetooth ADPD2 integration I wont need to do anything other than purchase the GO and SYNC the Bluetooth and I'm playing games and streaming music & movies in the car. I own every Playstation product since they took over SEGA except the PS ONE. I have a 5th Gen Original Playstation, a silver PS2Slim Broadband, one of the first one million PSP1000 original release spiderman bundle, a PSP2000slim ATV Fury/Lords of Dogtown Bundle and a 40GB PS3 that I bought when GT5 came out. So with all that being said I think it goes without saying that I will get a GO. I just don't like the price and the no UMD thing. And not sure of this obsolete memory card issue. If all this is true that would be some serious BS.
