I already have a PSP 3000, and I have almost 20 UMD games (not to mention an 8 gb pro duo). If I get it, I'll just save up for it so I can have the best of both models!

Hmmmm...well i'll be honest. I have not kept up with the handheld games and systems. Actually the last one i had was the GBA. But I did want to buy a handheld and i'm not much into nintendo so I knew PSP was what I wanted. I think the PSP-GO is cool with me. I'm not uptight about touch-screen and all. I have my own music player, have internet and all and my phone. PSP games that dont need discs. That sounds alright by me. Really the only use of the PSP-GO for me would be for games so of course ill go with it. 250 is a lot of money but i got so who cares. If you want just stick with what you got. For those like me new to it or who want to go digital then its not a terrible investment. Anyways, im not going to B**ch about it. Im not so uptight about this stuff...anyways i think it will be okay. It wont propel sony past the others but it wont bury it either. Sony will be fine.......i think....hmmmmmm

Sony are well known for making lots of different versions of products to apply to different prices ranges and styles of people, this is not a replacement for the psp it is a different version! this is aimed at people who prefer digital media and want small simple design, faster loading times and longer battery life due to the fact that it doesnt have to spin a disc every 30 seconds. as stated in the above article (for those of you who just looked at the pics & didnt bother reading) all psp media will be availible on umd so unless you are a tech freak or dont already own a psp there really isnt any reason for you to buy this, So why moan?

My own personal view is that this is the prefect direction for the psp to take. the smaller screen is better for your eyes so you wont get sore eyes from prolonged use and the change in size is so minimal that most people wont even notice.
The lose of the umd (useless media disc) means a huge cut in the size of the psp, no annoying buzzing noise while loading, shorter loading times and a greater battery life not to mention the fact that digital media so always cheaper than disc based media so more games for your £ and for those of you who are worried about missin out on the old psp title you just know that there will be some sort of digital game bundle packages availible for old psp titles.
The inclusion of digital media is a great step forward for portable gaming machines. no more waiting til the shops open, no more disapointments when the game you want is out of stock. all you have to do is select the game you want then download it and it can all be done on the fly while you play somrthing else or enjoy a cup of tea :D

By far the best thing about the psp go is the fact that it IS truely portable! its not the size of a small brick that pulls down your trousers and people arnt gonna laugh at you as you walk down the street with one of these bad boys.

so for me the good point's defo out wieght the bad point's :D

oh and for those of you who want touchscreen get a DSI or Itouch and as for the second analogstick, think about it long and hard... will it really change your life? how many games really need it? none thats how many.

A second analogue stick would be good not for existing games but games to come, i have yet to find a good fps on psp because all good fps games (Bar a few from n64) utilize 2 analogue sticks, people want to be able to run and accurately shoot at people at the same time!

Wow you guys are all flaming for reasons that you don't even know to be true. First off, there will be a way to transfer umd's onto the new psp. Shops will be set up in stores just for that reason. Second, If you fill up all 16gb memory you will be able to buy a m2 memory card and the only reason they are making the screen smaller is because the old psp's couldn't really fit in your pocket could they? The also made it smaller to make it much lighter, and those of you that say it will break easily, I have held one and the seemed incredibly sterdy, unlike the ds which will snap in half the first time you drop it. The 250$ price does seem a little steep, but its a brand new thing, what do you expect? I bet the price will drop within 2 months of relese or untill it slows down in sales.

why are you guys comparing it to the itouch or iphone, those are made for music and video NOT gamming
PSP Go is a protable GAMMING device.
honsetly i like the fact that there is no umd, that means i dont have to drag around all of my umds when i travel. also it might bring down the cost of the games since u dont have to purches the umd.

touch screen??? come on!!!
there is no purpuse for it with gamming. plus there are so many problems that come with a touch screen

i'm am extatic about the sdmico mini why? they are far cheeper than the PRO DUO! i bought a 2gig for my phone for about $15 when a DUO cost over $20.

i dont mind the smaller screen you might not even know the diffence when playing.
also a smaller device means it will acctually fit in the tinny so called pocets in girl jeans.

and the price? its only $50 more than my psp3000, and i will buy it. cause i see many up sides for it.
psp go isnt intened to me a soul music and video player like the ipods, itouch, with few games, no is it ment to be a phone like the iphone. so why are u comparing?

I think the only reason sony have put the high price tag on this console, is to make people think that there getting more. I know it seems daft but, if you saw someone with a ds, then saw someone with a psp go, i know what youd think of each. Sony add higher pricetags and aim at a different range of people. also did you knotice how fast the ps3 went down from £600 to around £300, they may just sell it at this rediculous price for the first buyers, the mad sony fanboys.

skeptical. Not holding my breath here expecting to be shocked and amazed with this one. The analog stick, if thats what you could even call it thus far has been downright horrible to say the least. It seems the fitting was to tight, allowing for jerky/catchy movement at best, only managing to create a scratching divet in the faceplate thus far. Not to mention that the power button wasn't very well placed, and with hands the size as my huge mitts here, playing a face paced action game only had my hand catching that power button and shutting the game off which would only increase my aggrivation. so... they want to go smaller now...? Beautiful. :: sigh :: I'm also scratching my head here in confusion as well with this one, maybe someone can explain it to me, but as an owner of the 3000 series, I got a component cable the other day, a wee bit excited that I might be taking the game to the big screen, but when I select progressive, the image is horribly scrambled, and the best I've managed so far, is an interlaced image, only the image is not much bigger then the screen of the PSP, not coming anywhere near the space that the TV screen offers, and its in black and white, making it all the more difficult to make out. Is it me, or is the cable and setup not even worth the $20? And for all those who say this new one is overpriced for the very few beneficial changes made, I'm in complete agreeance with that one, and if thats not a word, then I just made that up.

its not really worth it anyway if you have a psp 3000 already though

well, its obvious that we will not be able to buy used games for the psp go.... but does that mean that the games will go on sale after a while because im not sure i would want to keeep waisting all of my money buying games that i could have gotten cheaper on the psp slim?

I'm not really concerned about screen size, but touchscreen would have been a useful addition -- it's worked for the DS for years. I also would have thought a second analog stick would have been a 'no brainer'. As already mentioned, it would not necessarily break compatability with older games.

As long as there is a method for users to port existing UMD games to the new system, this PSP Go may still catch on. BUT... I have to agree that only having digital distribution will impact sales with those who do not have DSL or kids with non-tech-savy parents. Digital distribution also makes sharing / trading / resale of games difficult (impossible), while increasing the likelihood of piracy.

Sony have really dropped the ball on this one!
Lets face it, the biggest problem for psp, the thorn in its side, Nintendo ds. The Ds has a range of great games the appeal to many different ages groups, it have a touchscreen which is really populare right now and it now has a built in camera.
Psp needs to have the same... and more, what attracted me to psp in the first place was the large screen and the quality of graphics and games available but its not enough anymore!

What sony should have done is have:
-A Large touchscreen display
-Built in Camera
-Second analogue stick
These three things alone would convince me to pay even £500 for new psp!

Other ides that sony really could have done well on are the inclusion of these:
-Blu-ray umd's, it sounds crazy i know but people are mad about high definition at the moment, you stick a label with 'HD Ready' on something and it sells, sony could easily do this since they are pioneers in blu ray tech.
-High def screen (goes well with the blu-ray idea)
-Improved Graphics(One of the main advantages psp has had over DS and just a little more advancement could be enough to tip buyers in psp's favour)

I'm impressed by the built in memory although it could be larger and the design is fine with me!
also the idea that it might be possible to connect a current ps3 controller to the psp makes me drool!

The first problem with the PSP Go is the fact that it does not have a UMD drive. But considering the fact that I do not play as many UMD games anymore I don't consider it a setback. Furthermore the Playstation network has been selling digital copies of classic playstation and some PSP games. I currently own one of the original PSP systems released way back in 2007. The disc player on my PSP has not work for some time. I've been downloading classic playstation games and having just as much fun as I would had I bought a UMD game. Not to mention paying around 6 dollars instead of 30 or 40 dollars is nice. I am no entirely sure I will purchase one, but with the smaller size and 16GB internal memory it is very tempting.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRYYYYOOOOOOOOOONNNNEEEEEE!!! Listen up! Sony is ditching the UMD so they can have more money. While people who have PSP1000-3000 can go to stores like EBGames and Target, and get games for $39.99. While those who have a PSPGO are going to have to download thier games directly from Sony (Playstation Store.) No one is understanding that Games are HIGHER PRICED ONLINE FROM SONY. Sony is selling the games directly at a price they want, which means more money from them.

I was initially excited to hear about the new release. "No UMD Drive?" I don't think I like this as I own 8 movies and about 14 games. While the smaller size and screen I acually find attractive, the slider feature is cool though I've never owned a slider phone. I own an original iPhone and I don't like it for playing games I find the touch awkward on a handheld device. I am a SONY junky. I only wish I owned one of their desktop PCs from the late 90's when they first introduced the UMD. Those PC's had UMD drives in them and if you had one now the new GO with no UMD wouldn't be an issue. Does anyone remember the SONY MINIDISC? Yeah SONY took the CD out of a MINIDISC cartridge and put it in the UMD cartridge and renamed it. CD is the same. If anyone has a UMD for PC drive, hit me up I'd love to take it off your hands. Anyway..... I will agree with everyone that the price is way too high taking into consideration the PSP3000 is only $169 and while you wouldn't get Bluetooth you wouldn't be forced to sale your UMD collection. Now the Bluetooth I must admit is what has my attention. I put together a multimedia sound system in my car and I was just in the process of designing a PSP upgrade to ad gaming to my ride. With the GO offering Bluetooth ADPD2 integration I wont need to do anything other than purchase the GO and SYNC the Bluetooth and I'm playing games and streaming music & movies in the car. I own every Playstation product since they took over SEGA except the PS ONE. I have a 5th Gen Original Playstation, a silver PS2Slim Broadband, one of the first one million PSP1000 original release spiderman bundle, a PSP2000slim ATV Fury/Lords of Dogtown Bundle and a 40GB PS3 that I bought when GT5 came out. So with all that being said I think it goes without saying that I will get a GO. I just don't like the price and the no UMD thing. And not sure of this obsolete memory card issue. If all this is true that would be some serious BS.
