Web sites launch all the time, but they also shut their doors. We highlight 15 that bit the dust this year.
Let the debate begin: Was the iPhone more important than iTunes? Was anything bigger than Google finding a great business model? CNET offers its list of the 10 most important stories of the '00s.
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!
Fact is, 13/12th of the population sucks at math. Just kidding.
3 out of 12 cost $17 or more. and 4 out of 12 cost $10 or more. So 4 out of 12 cost between the two.
But back to the PSP Go... I owned a launch, and later bought a slim -- love 'em both. For the record, I have a PS3, XBox 360 Elite, had a DS and now a DS Lite (no desire to get the DSi), and a Wii of course. I still keep my N64 out too.
All that said, of course I am going to try the GO. If I like it better than the slim, somebody will appreciate getting my old one.
Im not really saying im sure this is a trick, but it might be. Dont hold me to it. Reasons...
1. The PSP go is in a top secret box. Why would it be there in an interview? If the interview was to be aired after E3, and the official PSP go announcment, it wouldnt be top secret anymore. Thus i beleive that this interview was meant to be aired BEFORE its official announcment. Was it meant for US though? Maybe not, but I'm just saying, its strange. Also, why would Sony even RISK doing an interview before the E3 announcment.
2. No analog stick is straight up stupid. And the start/select buttons are in a perfect place for the second stick, were the start/select buttons could be above the analog sticks, were there is plenty space.
3. Some of you might be thinking,"but that would mean that sony lied to us about this product", well no they arnt. This product is still unofficial, and its leaked, so it would not be illegal if it was illegally given to us.
Im not saying this is for sure. Heck, im not even saying this is likely, but I think its definatly possible, so dont wet your pants just yet.
Any contradictions would be appreciated, as long as they are not flaming, or angry.
1) There doesn't seem to be a volume button or a screen brightness button on the Go. This leads me to believe that this functionality will be addressed with firmware? Or maybe the controls in the pictures are not accurate.
2) The start and select buttons seem really out of place, suggesting that there could be another analog stick (but no big deal to me if there is not).
3) No user replaceable battery
4) Move from MemoryStick Duo to MemoryStick Micro
5) Looks like the speakers may have been upgraded (note the speaker holes on each side).
6) There appears to be a microphone below the controls in the center.
7) Proprietary connector now replaces the mini USB connector and the location has moved from the top to the bottom. I'm not sure if the Go will be able to output video unless the cable is included in the proprietary connector dongle. The connector appears to match with the AV dongle on my Sony Digital Camera.
8) A Dual Shock 3 may be able to tether to the Go using Bluetooth
At least the 16gig of flash memory sounds awesome....
:S
No touch screen.
No Screen Protection.
No UMD.
No improvment in content.
This things sole reason to exist is to create a markety for Sony Digital Content and it's less compelling than my old klunky Archos for that. I have to agree with the other "fail" comments.
I was considering buying "the next PSP" (if they did indeed announce one at E3). However seeing this im not so sure im going to drop the likely $250 to get this thing. Its not a PSP 2 like I wanted, it still has old graphics on a smaller screen none the less. Same controls. I do like the bluetooth though. But thats not enough to justify buying it in this economy.
Nice try sony, but no cigar. Im going to stick it out for a true PSP2. I'll go look for a old PSP on the cheap to hold me over for now.
It should be a dud unless it costs $170.
SOny really should have learned from the iphone/ipod touch gaming platform.
It better have PS3/360 like graphics and short loading time, otherwise why even release it. It will be like the Sega Game gear. Kinda cool but why buy it.
Also, Sony should really work on their software and device firmware OS.
Bought PSP-1000, not going to buy this. Can't stand the singel analog for FPS/TPS which is is necessary appeal for the hardcore gamers out there.
Anyway, that's just my .02 and it comes simply from the use that I get out of it personally. I love my 360 and the online capabilities they've added on there as well, but I truly truly dig taking a library of movies with me when I have to sit in a waiting room or stand in line or anything where I have to wait. Turn on the PSP and watch the latest Sandler movie and all is well. PSP has made me patient...I have no problem waiting anymore. :-)
Cheers...
As a secondary note: though I often find the back-and-forth in these forums entertaining, this one seems to reek of fanboys, a couple of true bigots, and some folks who simply want to so desperately add something intelligent that they make up info or repeat it from another forum they read just to look like there's some intelligence (and true) to the comment. Sad.
Eh, maybe I'm just losing patience as I get older to read through these to find the one or two nuggets of info that I can actually use. That's patience that the PSP can't help me with. Stupid is just, well, stupid. I guess that can't be helped.

- I was always wondering how Sony would slim down the form factor to make it pocket-size, like iPhone, G1 etc. After seeing this photo, I think it makes perfect sense. Slim, yet functional. But a lot of people are showing 'hate' so perhaps I stand alone....
