Comments on: Palm Pre to arrive June 6 for $200

Sprint will sell the smartphone for that price after a $100 mail-in rebate and with a two-year contract for a data plan.

My gf is gonna get this phone when it comes out. We're on a family plan 1500 minutes with unlimited text, internet, GPS, TV, nights @ 7 for only 129.99. I have a corporate discount so my plan ends up 109.99. You cant get any better from another carrier. Personally I think all customers service reps dont much. I don't have problems with them.

To get past the rebate get it at Bestbuy. They dont deal with mail in rebates. Everything's off straight forward

Just go to Best Buy and get your phone. NO REBATES!!! Bought my last one there and I was glad I did. I HATE mail-in rebates.

everyone's saying go to best buy and getting the word out. now they'll probably run out first! That means I'm now gonna have to get there earlier. Thanks. lol

If Palm Pre only works on Sprint/Nextel, I am not interested. Those systems do not work in my area so I am very disappointed to know that I cannot use the new Palm since I have been looking forward to it.

I have waited long enough for this phone. I currently have 2 lines with Sprint. On one I have the Samsung Instinct which I HATE and the other is my Palm Treo 700w which is alright but it?s dated compared to every member of my family with new BlackBerry?s and iPhones.

If this phone doesn?t ?wow? me on day one, I?m returning it and moving my lines to AT&T where I know I can get the tried and true iPhone.

Sprint and Palm had better knock this one out of the park or they can add another subscriber to their 1.1 million subscriber lost total?

Needed to be cheaper, not an impressive start at all.

If I can get it on my cheap-o Sprint SERO plan, It's mine, otherwise, I will run out the contract and see what's around next year. The plans cost too much, but all plans cost too much. Unlimited data, text, and a modest number of minutes should cost $40 or so.

The Pre looks just about perfect. I think success depends on developers writing quality apps for WebOs. It's all about the apps now.

Bonnie,
Any word on app pricing? Its been years since I owned a Palm, but I remember the prices for the more decent programs were anywhere from $15 and up. I'm hoping that the apps for the Pre will be priced much lower to remain competitive, but I haven't heard anything about it.

i have seen lot of "iphone killer" phones but none ever touched iphone yet

The Pre isnt looking so good. $299 with a $100 rebate means most of you will be paying $300 plus tax. Those rebates are a sham. I send out all my rebates and most of the time they never send the check especially when it's for $50 or more. Always a million and one excuses if you try to follow up and a waste of time and nerves.

Either way Sprint is the absolute worst rated wireless service provider in the US. Just read the horror stories all over the net how they continue to screw over their customers and how they loose over 1 millionn subscribers every quater... And their plans are hardly less expensive than Verizon or ATT.
If you add the fact that most likely sprint will screw you over like many were overcharged for their service and then refused to fix the issue than you'll probably end up paying more going through sprint.

I used to have sprint and they sent me a bill for $573 for one months usage. When i called to find out about the situation I was told that i called in the begining of the month and that i lowered my minutes substantially and that was reason why my bill was so high...They are so full of it, why would i lower my mins and then use about the same mins as i normally used on my old plan every month. I explained my situation but sprint refused to fix the problem in any way even though they couldnt provide me with any evidence that i called to change my plan.

Deal with Sprint and they will rob you blind not to mention the hours of aggrevation i spent on the phone with the very worst customer service period. Long story short i never paid them and switched to Tmobile instead, and when they put negative remarks on my credit report i disputed them and won.
So sprint never got their money which they where trying to steal from me and they lost a customer and im sure many more who read my remarks regarding Sprint..

Well this cool news, palm pre, the new Iphone , maybe a crackberry or lg touch screen from verizion (my present provider), or maybe a new G2? Atleast this two year cycle I've got some really good choices to pick from instead of trying to setting on which verizon phone wasnt a massive steamy PoS, my compromise last time solid was z6tv (never got vcast lol). But I'm looking for more flexable, capable this round and it very very nice to see some exciting choices for a change. Very Cool.

I keep hearing everyone trash sprint but i have been with them for 6 years and they have been great. The customer service is great and the network is great. I have never owned a "smart phone" I currently have a rant but find connecting to the internet is a breeze on their 3g network. I was recently in a rural area that only had dial up access and was trying to get directions in mapquest and couldnt take the slow load, so i pulled out my rant and got directions on it no time. I have been looking for a phone upgrade and think this is going to be it, been looking forward to pre since i heard about it in jan. I have simply everything on 2 phones and with coporate discount i pay 160 a month. In my book you cant beat that.

I'm glad to know the price. My 2yr contract is up in Nov so I'll be waiting until then so I can get the $150 rebate. However, if they new iphone might also be a possibility since AT&T lowered their month plan for iphones.

For me, assuming that the object is desirable and it considerably improves on the Treo 755p that I'm so tired of, the question is data.

Will I be able to seamlessly absorb the ton of info that's in Palm Desktop, so that I can finally retire it? will I be able to sync and archive my SMS messages? If they accomplished those ends, I stay. Otherwise, it will be iPhone/ATT time. (Despite the fact that I don't care much for AT&T.)

I'm currently with Sprint with a BB 8830 and don't really want to leave just because of hardware. I'm not a fan of AT & T's network or customer service, so i don't plan on leaving because of a phone. I'll download apps from the App Store to my iPod Touch, no problem. Bring on the Pre! I can't wait to try out the contact integration. I hope Sprint and Palm are ready. They have to knock this out of the park!

Way too much. Mail in rebates suck and I am not jumping from my $39.99 - 450 mins with a $10 unlimited data plan to a $69.99 plan.
Yeah, I know it's only $10, but I dont want to pay an additional $240 for the life. I'll just get a Treo 850 off craigslist and stick with my current.

Yeah, Yeah. It should be mostly about your cell providers service. Sprint, by far has the most affordable plans(data & talk). Service(3g & talk) is also better. At least when comparing to ATT. I was thinking about the iphone3g. Then I realized i would spend about $300 more a year for att's service compared to sprint. Iphone data plan $30. Then u have to purchase a text plan$15.00 min. Any ways.

What would you do...tmobile contract up June 7 (Goodbye Dash!), considering iphone or palm pre. Use it for business (ms exchange, outlook) and personal. both have pros and cons. Will get a family plan for 2 kids plus mother & m-in law. Sprint includes alot more, but users other than me won't use it (or would love to use it but I will block - sorry kids), about a $10/diff. Decisions, decisions!

This thing looks awesome, I've always been an iPhone/iPod Touch fan, but this thing might top them.
