You obviously have not used an Xbox360. To call it an excellent media streamer is completely ignorant. First off it is incredibly loud, sounds more like an airplane engine. Second off, one (especially the novice) is incredibly limited in what you can send over to the xbox, namely window media files. That is if you can get window media center working which is entirely not a simple process. Guess what?, nobody encodes video in windows media files either..

I personally use 3 networked media players in my house and love them. I buy DVD's, extract the movies, store them on a NAS, and then I can watch the movies on any or all three of the devices, without the need for a dvd player in each room. And with small children, no broken dvd players, no ruined dvd's, and if the movie on the NAS gets corrupted or lost, no sweat. Re-extract and move on to the NAS. 20 minutes......tops.
