This reminds me of the vapor ware days of video game systems. It stops you from buying now because you are waiting for the super system coming.

Sure it's coming, but the rumors...Feb 17, Mar 1, Mar 15, Apr 17, May 17, June 7. Our hopes are kept high because it's only a few weeks away. Before long the end of the 1st Half of 09 is here. I know this is the date promised by Sprint, but the rumors keep getting hope high, as well as frustrations! I just wish Sprint would announce a date!

This is ridiculous. I have been with Sprint for over 8 years. I have stayed even though others have jumped ship. I have been with Palm since the Treo 600 series. The least they could do is give us a date. Maybe we will hear something on tomorrow since Palm is choosing 'tesers' for their products. Way to go Sprint and Palm for upsetting your loyal customers!!!

"it's an incredibly bad idea for Sprint and Palm to launch the smartphone one day before the start of WWDC 2009. "

I could not agree more...

I havebeen to at least a dozen sprint stores and they are saying they won't have the phones till august. Man I will feel pretty punked as a loyal sprint user if they only release a few and then make us wait till august I would deffently leave sprint for verizon and get a black berry and wait for the palm or a decent phone to come along I am not impressed with the black berry touch again no key board. As for sprint they screw this up with me stick a fork in me I am done

Palm Pre is coming to the Bell Mobility network in Canada. No launch date as of yet and no price either.

I believe that Apple has Palm trapped: Here are my bets:

1. They will release 3.0 at WDC
2. Pre is stuck with telenav Sprint navigator. I bet that Apple will have something really coll cooked up. That's the #1 application
3. I bet that there will be some really interesting new iPhone apps from their best category leaders... Forget games...They'll have that anyway. Look at category leadership

In other worst, Pre will be for people stuck with a Sprint contract who can't do better.

Tha's my bet. My honest guess.

FYI - The world does not revolve around the letter "i". I prefer Sprint over the others (My contract ended 04/30/2009 and I will renew with Pre). Better network and customer service has improved tri-fold since Dan came on board. Plus. I have been a "Palm Person" since the early days. Remember...Palm created user apps before the iPhone was a figment of anyone's imagination. Palm begat iPhone. Palm slipped and dropped the ball. Palm now picks itself up and shakes off the dust.

Most important. We have another choice in the world of smartphones

I have a 1st gen iPhone and would switch to the Palm Pre in a second simply because my iPhone is good, but what the Pre promises to deliver sounds very enticing, especially being able to run several applications at once and the Synergy feature that combines sources like Outlook, gmail, etc into one location sounds awesome. The only problem is I wouldn't drop ATT for Sprint - why do handset makers insist on tying their device to one network? I realize phone subsidies from the providers put money in the hands of the manufacturers faster in the short term, but this can't be a great strategy for prolonged market growth, can it?

It'd be very interesting to see devices go head to head on one network to give the consumers the ultimate choice on devices.

You mean like with the BlackBerry? I can buy a BB from all sorts of vendors. The colour may be different but the features are pretty much the same. It's pricing that wins the day for me. I agree. locking one handset to one vendor is not free enterprise and doesn't promote competiton.

I thought that sprint was going to take pre orders for the Pre 1 month in advance??? I guess that was just a rumor too.

I suggest you to go to www.everythingpre.com on Palm Pre forums you will find a thread "Why not May 29th to 31th but June 7th"

I just got done talking to one of my friends who manages a sprint store. He has informed me that Sprint has set blackout dates for the entire month of June. Therefore Sprint must be expecting some big sales if they want all of their associates on hand.

The Palm Pre. Should have called it the Palm Post as in post mortem. It should have been out a year ago to be an honest competitor with the iPhone. Unless it's soooo amazing that it can toast bread I think Palm is just showing up to the party when the janitor is already sweeping the floors.
