If there was a way to switch between Surepress and a more traditional style touchsreen with haptic feedback, that would be great. Surepress is a neat idea, but in the real world, I've pretty well adapted to using a regular touchscreen. I want to keep my touchscreen and buttons separate.

I think the next phase has to be similiar to what the pre offers (but hasn't yet delivered) the ability to run multiple apps in the background and switch between them as tabs and what not.

That'd be nice. For any smart phone really.

Plz...give me a break. If you have a storm post yourself with it in your hand before you offer any advice...Stop regurgitating the same boring Iphone fanboy BS over and over again. Until the iphone can push services it will never stand a chance against RIM, irrespective of model....PERIOD. Iphone reliability vs RIM reliability is not highly dependent on hardware but on service architecture. Make sure you Iphone fanboys look that up before sounding like a bunch of idiots on these forums.

I think the only reason they would come out with another Storm is because it will have a full QWERTY keyboard. I could be wrong but there can't be any other reason. I love my Storm as is but I know that would be a great improvement.

There's no WiFi. RIM should make Verizon cave in and have it for all of their Smartphones. It's not like Verizon has any options. All their other phones sucks. RIM have the power, not Verizon. If Verizon doesn't cave in don't use them.

I am an early adopter of the phone, and cannot wait to see what the Storm 2 will be like. Even though I will have to wait to upgrade again. The SurePress is a great feature avoids accidental key presses.
The inclusion of WiFi will be a much needed feature.

This is good news! Improvements in technology is always a good thing, nothing is perfect. The discussions regarding the click touch screen not being so user friendly, I feel it is a great concept. It allows more options and versatility than the standard touch screen can offer. No doubt it was cumbersome while getting used to it, but by allowing myself to be open about it and give it my best shot, I now prefer it over buttons. Great job RIM!

The only issue with the storm is the firmware not the overall touch screen. I'm a huge blackberry fan, and I believe they nailed the touch/click screen. While browsing the internet I like being able to highlight an item, but not physically open it unless I click the screen down. I look forward to a newer version with the blackberry storm 2, or whatever they end up calling it

What many say is true, the Storm is a neat machine except RIM and Verizon have left Storm users in a bind with a machine that is full of issues that they have not addressed with a timely firmware update. days, weeks and now months have past with promises and teasing of a new firmware update any minute that never comes. Very frustrating to say the least.......

my dad has a blackberry storm
i think the touchscreen is really cool
the only problem is the software, but even now it has improved with the updates
everytime i use the phone, it just feels so special, i never get bored of it.
its a really good phone
the touchscreen QWERTY is a bit tricky at first, but then you get used to it. - for the new one they could make a one which is more spaced out or something

I hate my storm. I've had it for over 6 months and still hate it. Of course, Verizon has me locked into a 2 year contract for it as punishment for being so stupid.

I REALLY miss my Palm based PDA (Clie). It TRULY had a HUGE screen that wasn't eaten up by an on-screen keyboard and was EXTREMELY accurate (usually with my stylus, which I never minded, but even with my fingernail). The storm doesn't hold a candle to it.

My storm's "radio" shuts off unexpectedly and doesn't tell me that it's done so, so I have gone days before finding out that I've been missing all my calls.

The web function SUCKS so it doesn't really make a difference that my Palm didn't have it. The $30 extra per month also sucks. The lack of WiFi also sucks. It just sucks.

The contact list is confusing. The voice dial sometimes works and when it does there is still a lot of redundancy.

There is no comprehensive user guide that I've found, and RIM seems to disclaim any responsibility in the user forums. There are VOLUNTEER moderators there (really?) who are NOT affiliated with RIM and RIM makes it sound like you'll be thrown in a Turkish prison if you criticize their product which is a gift from the Gods.

It takes fairly good pictures if you're not trying to capture anything faster than a glacier.

It sucks!

"which begs the question: Should RIM stick to what it knows best and stay with the QWERTY/SureType messaging phones?" Here's a better question for you Bonnie Cha: ARE YOU ******* STUPID!? The future calls for touch, it would be extremely stupid of RIM not to continue with innovation because of people like you.

Wait people. Some have not even gotten a grasp for the first version of the storm and for those that use why not update the software to .148 screen more responsive no pixelating on the camera and no freezing if used and if you shut down all the applications. This is the only phone now on market that works with vznavigation overseas and no need to update the maps like traditional GPS systems. Few more things to add. No carrier has a larger network then verizon, not a bigger 3g area. I live in Bloomington and have a 3g this is town of 75,000 population not counting the students ofcourse. Verizon offers insurance on all the line up of the phone starting at a samsung 340 to storm and all other smart PDA phones. Has anyone tried visual voicemail? VZnavigator? Awesome stuff people

I have used both the storm and the iphone. I have ultimately switched to the iphone...for now. I believe that the storm does have a better infrastructure and that blackberries are unmatched when emailing. My only concern with the storm was that it ran too slow. I loved the surepress touchscreen, however once an icon was pressed it took took long for the application to load up. I an anxiously awaiting the storm2 in the hopes that the hardware is beefed up and that the phone will be quicker...if so I will be switching back to the storm.

1) RIM should get rid of the screen being a giant button and be like regular touch screens
2) the storm could also have a slide out keyboard
3) slim the phone down and add some more surface area

I thing rim should continue to make phones that have the full time rigid key since they seem to be great seller. I also think that they just need to work out the buggs of the storm. Everone needs to keep in mind that this is the first version of a touch screen from them and it will take time to work out the kinks. Look at the Iphone, they just release a new model to fix things that were wrong will there last one. and this is what, the 3rd time around. Blackberry has a history of making excelent PDA's and I know they will work the bugs out and give us a storm that blows away the Iphone.

I like how they say the blackberry 8300 outpassed the iPhone in sales just by a little...well of COURSE it will!! the blackberry curve is on EVERY single carrier in the US...the iPhone is only on 1...
