Yeah, this was a really good move on Microsoft's part. Now that the casual gamers are happy, the hardcore gamers get their pack.
PS: To the PS3 fanboys, remember to keep your PS3 well cooled; I've heard of one overheating and destroying both itself and the 360 sitting with it. lol. :D

I bought a 360 in December of last year, a Peice o' 3 6 months later (my friend sold it to me for cheap because he hated it) and a wii last September. I have only bought 1 game for my ps (mgs4 because I couldnt get it for my xbox) and have bought countless games for the xbox. My wii sits on my shelf collecting dust. I have played the demos for most of the ps3 exclusives, and enjoyed myself but will mainly buy xbox games for 1 simple reason. All of my friends have xbox's and i can play with them. I play Left for Dead, Gears 2, Halo 3, GTA 4 (exclusive dlc) Fable 2, Fallout 3(exclusive dlc). In terms of value, my xbox works fine out of the box, and comes with a headset. Most ps3 owners dont have the initiative to go out and pay 40$ for a headset. I tried PS home (lame) and maybe 2 people of the 50 in the lobby had a headset. I cant imagine playing an fps like that.

This seals the deal for me. I will also bet if you look in the right places you can probably snag this deal for even cheaper! Though I cannot do it till I get my new HD TV :P

A year and a half ago I bought a 360 Elite; Got a pretty good deal on it too; console, an extra controller, forza, viva pinyata (sorry sp.) and an other game (cant rember which as bought several others at the same time- think it was COD4) for £330 (pretty much bang on $500- very good when you consider we get taxed like mad on purchases here in the UK) I have never had the RROD, owing to the fact that its kept on my desk and is kept clean; and so stays cool. Another good thing is that it includes ethernet, HDMI leads etc so you can basically hook it up to anything other than coax out of the box (incidentally its useless to spend $40 on a new HDMI; the standard cable can take about 4x 1080p resolution, the the extra <1% signal improvement you get from a better cable isnt going to make a lot of difference)

Strangely none of this is my reason for buying a 360; its the controller, as I have quite large hands, the ps3 controller is quite uncomfortable for prolonged use; if they had had the guts to use the 'boomerang' concept design instead of sticking with a 10 year old design instead, I would probably have spent the extra!
The Ps3 is an excellent console; however i think that too much emphasis has been put on raw power, and so with so many cores etc, it is very difficult to program to get the most of it; with most multiplatform titles being programmed for 360 then effectively porting to the ps3, as the added cost of effectively redeveloping the game isnt covered by the extra selling price.

As for Halo and Fable 2, Halo is a good game, that hasnt change a lot since halo 1, its a simple shoot em up with a decent plot, and good, reliable multiplayer, yes with the odd 10 year old chav, but thats what mute was designed for. Fable 2, well it sucks to be honest, you only seem to run into about 10 different sprites in the entire game, and the spells are limited; youll go through the entire game only using 1 or 2, and there is only one real boss, who you can kill using that 1 spell over and over. but, it beats kung fu panda anyday!
Truth is the 2 consoles are about equal, the PS3 offers more in the ways of raw power, and I think will probably be the longer lasting console, as sonys devkit improves, however the 360 is more flexible in terms of hardware, ie someone who is only interested is casual gaming can pick up a cheaper version, whereas someone who is a bit more hardcore can go the full whack, and anything that makes that better value- like this pack, is welcome.
