Would SOMEONE please create a new generation of handhelds, rather than continuing to update outdated hardware?

Here's looking at you, Microsoft.

I love my DS lite that I have now. Since I have games for the SP, I wouldn't want this simply because of the missing slot. I perfectly happy with the version I have now, and the added features do not add enough to entice me, although it may appeal to the younger crowd (under the age of 13). I do fear that it won't be long before this model will get an "upgrade", which will include a new format of games that won't play on the DS lite.

I wouldn't consider buying this. The one thing I've always loved about Nintendo products is that they're backwards-compatible, and if the DSi doesn't incorporate a GBA game slot, I don't see much advantage in buying it.

As for the bigger screens and two cameras: The screens on my DS Lite are more than adequate, and although convergence products are cool, I'd rather have multiple electronics in my bag that do their specific functions admirably than one or two that do mediocre jobs of what they're advertised to do. For now, at least, I'm going to wait for the day when manufacturers can create higher-quality do-everything electronics.

I have an original DS. No Gameboy slot rules this one out for me, as that's half my games. Any solution they do come up with to accommodate them, whether through an adapter or copying them to SD cards, is too clumsy to be worth it.

At least maybe I'll be able to upgrade to a DS Lite at a lower cost now...

Well, I for one am highly looking forward to this. I still have the DS Fat, which is quickly dieing, with the card slot sometimes not reading my games and the stylus slot is so worn that it won't hold a stylus anymore. This'll be a great upgrade for me. Due to the SD slot, homebrew will (and pretty much already has) eaten this up, just like it has the Wii. When the VC comes out for this, I can just download the GBA games I own already and install them to my system for free. Plus that give me options for even more apps homebrewers are making. Another plus is the browser. Sure, it's like the Wii browser: slow and very incompatible, but at least it has Flash! If I go on the net with my PDA, it's even slower and has no Flash! The third reason why I would by this is because of the faster processor and more RAM. This should get rid of some of the lag time while playing online, and in some of the games. Hopefully this also promises better graphics, too. The final reason I would get this is for the cameras. I love taking pictures, and even if it's low-res, it's still a camera! And if I see something I want to take a picture of, I can just pull this out and SNAP! It's done. I'm definitely getting this.

Wow! I not going buy Nintendo DSi. No thanks! I stick with my first history of DS hardware. Online shops are sucks and rip your money off. How you feeling about it? I can be angry against price online. Freedom will make people happy and more afford. Shame on Nintendo DSi and Nintendo points like DSi and Wii shop online. Internet sucks, online sucks, etc are sucks are not helpful to us anymore. People should fill complaint against Nintendo company. So now, I don't like consoles no more and hurt my feelings. Think about it.

I now stopped buying Nintendo games and doing nothing! I'm no longer support Nintendo company. I know in the future will become extreme worst and careless. I moved to PC games for more advance and and can play Nintendo DS & GameBoy Advance games on PC. That is old news. So you can insert your Xbox, PS1, GameCube or newer game disc in your PC CD/DVD/Blu-Ray drive then play without worry about console hardware going bad and become failure! We can play Nintendo 64 and old games on PC to bring memories back forever. We can play over 1 million of games on PC without get you to tired and restless. You must have Windows XP to play all over 1 million include oldest games and newest games from year 1987 to now. Happy 22 years cerebrate old games from Windows 1.x to 2000 & Vista to bring back on Windows XP. Windows XP is very powerful and solid heart of god core friendly & more trust than all other in the world. I hate Vista. Vista have evil core and not working with drivers, etc. Gasp! You should Install Windows XP after Vista on any new hardwares to blow Vista out and save your a lot of headache.

Total of score in the world what people playing on hardwares: (My opinion)

Computer with different Operating System and games:
Windows: 92%
Mac: 78%
Linux & Other: 34%

Consoles: (+ = any new hardwares type)
PlayStaion +: 69%
Xbox +: 61%
Nintendo +: 84%
Other: 17%

The DSi does what the DS can do semi-leggally (R4).

The only diff. is the .3 mega pixe;l cameras, which are SUCH a big deal

No It will not work on NDi. Lucky for me to keep eye on Google everyday. I have sharp eye catch on Google about news on Nintendo DSi. News said:

The latest version of the Nintendo DS, the DSi, has officially launched in Japan. It features larger dual touchscreens, dual cameras, and an SD card slot. The members of GBAtemp.net have decided to tackle the most important question: will it run homebrew? Current DS systems just need a purpose built flash cartridge to load homebrew software (usually stored on MicroSD). Forum members have tested at least 10 different flash carts, and none of them worked. While not completely exhaustive it?s proof enough to us that current generation carts will not work. We hope this is something that can patched with a new firmware. Most carts load their firmware off the flash, so upgrades are easy. The blocking of homebrew maybe a side-effect of Nintendo?s announced region-locking on the DSi.

R4 - Failed
EZ Flash V - Failed
CycloDS - Failed
G6 DS Real - Failed
M3 DS Real - Failed
Supercard DS One - Failed
iTouch DS - Failed
FCard - Failed
NCard - Failed
M3 DS Simply - Failed
U2DS - Failed

News for Nintendo DSi websites, you need read news for important and learn new things then you will be shock to hear from them. I was shock of that too. Very bad news! :-( Very sad things. Websites are not advertisements. We need know more important news for people need to know. Here 3 websites for Nintendo DSI news:

DSi incompatible with existing flash carts?

See that? People will not buy NDI due to powerful firmware to block homebrew files. So now we become more clever than before. .3 mega pixel camera is not good cause burr picture to take is not prefect. Nintendo DSi is sucks. People will know about this hardware is worse one. Very poor for NDI and make people angry easily.
