This is the first phone that I have seen since buying my iPhone one year ago that I would happily trade for. This thing looks amazing. If its compatible with at&t's network and aac music files I will totally be picking this phone up next summer. I havent been this excited about a non iphone in nearly two years.

I like how they forgot to mention where this device "came from" lol... The N97 looks like an Htc tilt and the touch hd had a baby... Nice phone tho.. and all of you Iphone ****** are delusional.. THERE IS NO AREA that the Iphone can beat this baby in.. Screen nope, memory nope, app store lol are you serious, and dont give me that resistive screens suck crap.. its the software not the screen tech.. compare a samsung glyde to a touch hd.. dont give me multi touch either its the software again, HTC photo albulm has every feature of zooming, scrolling, flipping, and manipulating a picture that the Iphone has and guess what you can use one finger in or out a glove, a finger nail, or a stylus.. Not just two fingers and two only.. The Iphone is a great phone but seriously Porsche is legendary but go to any sports car afficianado and tell them that is hands down the best sports car across the board and you'll be laughed out of the cigar lounge...

And one more thing lol The HTC Touch Pro, HD, Diamond family looks like it still might be actually more powerful than this baby. Its rumored to use the same processor as current N-Seris..We'll see if the bump tha ram up to a quarter gig.. If they do that I'll agree its the most powerful but if they dont I just cant see it

ok my biggest problem with this is the fact that it is $700 which is way to high but I still only have sprint which at least where I live sucks I will get service in one part of my school but I move 50 feet and 4 bars becomes searching for service and as for verizon again where I live att is better. My biggest problem though is way to many Europeans have the stereotypical view that all Americans are fat and extremely stupid but that is not the case. Yes there are fat and stupid people in America but there are fat and stupid people everywhere I mean if you live in the UK just look at Jeremy Clarkson.

I want my N97now, unlocked! Unfortunately, that is not going to happen any time soon. I have used Palm, Windows, Symbian and the iPhone, all extensively. I love the iPhone, but the Symbian operating systems have always been the best mobile OSs that I have found. From my old Psion to the Sony P910, my favorite, I have been enamored with Symbian. More business friendly than iPhone, multitasking like Windows, and runs with many fewer restarts. 850 mHz is a must in the U.S. as I found out trying the Sony P990 unsuccessfully. My son can have my iPhone, this looks like the one that will travel with me on business and everywhere else.

Thanks for the mention in the article Bonnie.

The reason that Nokia is using TFT over capacitive touch screens is the Asian Market. A 3000-10,000 key virtual keyboard wouldn't be very practical. Nokia makes great products, I just wish they would make an honest attempt to get into the US smartphone market.

What your smartphone says about you: (I am including the iPhone, even though it barely is a smartphone)

RIM Blackberry: I have this phone to use for work.
Apple iPhone: I have this phone so I can do something fun while at work.
WM: I have this phone because I love staring at pinwheels, waiting, editing registry, and resetting my phone. My phone can do anything, it only takes about 3 times as long the others and requires a few resets.
Nokia: I have this phone so I can do all of my work from the sauna where me and all of my buddies spend all day talking about how much stupid Americans suck because they like cheap phones.

Doesn't look as slick as the iPhone. Looks slow and I don't see any multi-touch stuff. Also looks much thicker than the iPhone. Has a real keyboard though (which some people might like). I suspect it will be basically irrelevant.

I'm not too thrilled about the interface. Looks fairly slow. And then it isn't intuitive: the guy on the video even seemed confused whether to double-tap, single-tap, etc. (For instance: Why would I have to click a play button on the right? Why can't I just tap on the video I want?)

in the video there is a good moment about the difference in the approach to UI functionality between apple (UI made by designers) and other companies, in this case nokia (UI made by engineers): at 0:51 she wants to change the layout of the screen. she is accessing "options" (first tap) and then "edit" (second tap), then chooses the object she wants to move (third tap). then she is able to rearrange the elements on the screen. so three taps before you can move anything. here is how the same functionality is implemented on the iphone/ipod touch: just tap and hold the object you want to move. when the objects starts shaking move it.

I'm wondering why they didn't just use the OS from the N810. Since it doesn't work in the US yet anyway I guess I'll be using the N810 for a while.

It's been a long time coming, but after dabbling with touch on the midrange 5800, Nokia has finally brought a touchscreen to an S60 "N-Series" smartphone, the N97.

Found a fans site http://www.NokiaN97Forum.com express your personal opinions there.
