When their streaming video works on standards-compliant web browsers rather than just Internet Explorer, then I will be interested. Their DVD rental service is outstanding, but their streaming video is a non-starter.

Netflix's new video player, which is based on Silverlight 2, does indeed now work on other browsers than Internet Explorer, including Firefox.

That is true, however the new Silverlight based player for Macs and Firefox is being gradually rolled out to customers, so not everyone has access yet.

However, everyone should have it by the end of the year.

Mac users were saved by MSFT`s Silverlight which lets them watch instantly the Netflix content. Some people are not informed well.

Last I checked you still couldn't view Netflix streaming video on Windows 2000 machines (i.e. IE6 w/Silverlight 2) - though perhaps with the proliferation of "Netflix-capable" devices it's a non-issue...
