With the release of the laser rear projection televisions by Mitsubishi..I'd say that the tech itself has a lot more life left. Now, the sales figures in light of the current economic situation may tell another story...

I disagree, David. I've been hawking prices on that very Panasonic 58-incher you mention and really, it's less than a $500 jump up from the 50-inch model. The big leap comes immediately after, though, when you kick up to the 65-inch behemoth, you also kick up at least a grand in price! Of course, I'm talking about shop-around pricing, not MSRP.

I have one of these Sammy LED DLPs. It's glorious. Best bang for your buck. Period.
