I Just went to best buy today and the guy told me the would go on sale on 16th for them and the 15th at verizon stores and also that you can reserve one for $50. I think im going to wait till i know how much they are going to cost first. also im stoked that they are going to include an 8gb sdhc card with the phone even tho im buying a 16gb

i cant wait for this phone to come out, then i can finally have all my devices in one. I would have the Iphone but i am not a fan of AT&T, like many others out there. I just hope that they put out a real date soon for the storm so we can all stop guessing! I would really like to get it before xmas rolls around! I will be watching work to see if verizon stores start stocking up on anything here in the next week though work!

With the comment always made about being "exclusive" to a phone carrier... you mention that the STORM will probably be avail to other carriers in a year or so.... why isn't that so for the iPhone. I too do not want to change to ATT for the iPhone but was hoping that it will be avail on Verizon soon... after a few years.... Speaking with Verizon they say they will probably NEVER get the iPhone. I was wondering why so many applications for the Blackberry are "subscription" based, which is very expensive. Will the application store for the STORM have apps like the Apple Store, or are they too going to be mostly subscriptions.... which, BTW, would be too expensive for me and would be a deal breaker.

Thanks.... Love all that you do on ALL the shows and Podcasts.... I have come to trust your opinions!

I had never wanted a blackberry until I played with the curve and I am really interested in the STORM, but I agree Verizon pricing is way too high in order to get all the features and benefits of the phone. I have a palm and Sprint's $99 simply eerything plan so I just need a new phone to go with my plan. Hopefully Sprint will get the phone in the Spring.

From the information provided by RIM, the phone will run both on GSM and HDMA, right? Do you think that there might a possibility of unlocking the phone and using it with other carriers?

I know everybody is looking forward to the Storm, but I cannot see what the appeal for this smartphone is. Take a look at the upcoming xperia x1 and you see a sleek fresh phone. The storm just looks bulky, and that's kind of a drag in comparison. I think people simply want the storm because of the Blackberry brand name.

Telus will be offering the Storm in Canada sometime before Christmas according to their news release.

Xperia_x1 - People want the Storm because of the BlackBerry technology - iPhone and the others still have a ways to go before becoming a viable enterprise solution, IMO.

This is the only phone that Verizon will sell that appeals to me as an adult. I would have loved for them to carry a version of any Samsung ultra thin but that will never happen. Other than the other Blackberries which are indeed clunky looking, every other phone Verizon has looks like some kinda gimmick phone that only a teen or 20 -something would carry. the Storm is the same size as the iphone and I haven't seen too many people calling them bulky looking. As for the xperia x1, that looks like a busy piece of crap. My 15 YO would probably love it.

I'm goin' in cold turkey... My birthday is the 21st so it just seems appropriate. I've had TREOs from 600, 650 to 700 and am so used to the Palm. Tho the TREOs have been a little unstable, I love the graphics... I'll let ya know how the Blackberry works out. tneedy

Let me just start by making it known how extremely jealous I am of all of you who were able to get a Storm reserved for you. For some reason, the stores near me are not offering any type of reserving and they all said 1st come 1st serve. SO I guess I am going to have to go old school for this phone and get to the store early and wait it out.

For those of you that are in the same boat as me, what time are you planning on getting there. I am going to shoot for 5:30am since the doors open at 7am.

Do you need to purchase the internet plan Verizon has, or can the phone be used without it for just regular use? I mostly got it for the touch screen, and great picture screen for viewing movies, and listening to music. I heard you have to, but that's what they told me with my Palm Treo 700. I never got the service and never really needed it.
