- When you can drop a Dell or HP desktop tower 5 feet onto a concrete floor, cracking the case and knocking hard drive loose, then pick it and plug it in and use it with no problems, I'll switch. I've used Apple since 1989, but when I dropped a G4 off my porch when I was moving in 2002, I thought I would have a pile of useless hardware when I got to my new house. The case was cracked open and he hard drive was loose inside. I put the hard drive back in place, taped the cracked case and plugged it it. I used it for another 8 months before passing it to my daughter who is still using it.
