No firewire...? Oh well, that sucks. I have several 2.5" external drives from Seagate and WD for backups, and the one firewire-connected drive is much more reliable for speedy backing up (not to mention booting from an external) than my USB-2 drives. Looks like I'm keeping my 2008 BlackBook for another year or two.

Hi guys... I live in RSA and currently own a white 13" MB which I'm in the process of selling because I want to upgrade.

I've just recently seen the release of the new MB range and am wanting to find out whether it will be better for me to buy the 2.0GHz NEW MB ( R19,000.00 / $1930.00 ) or the Black 2.4GHz MB ( R14580.00 / $1481.00 ) ?

Decisions can be made to refrain from including usual features that we have become accustomed to. However, it has been my experience that Apple know what it is doing. Furthermore, it is obvious that Apple has removed the firewire to instigate a higher price point and get more customers into the Macbook Pro. It's just a marketing scheme. You have to respect it. I, myself am going to choose the aluminum macbook with 256 Nvidia, 1066 Fsb, glass trackpad, and glass covered lcd over the plastic macbook with firewire. Happy choosing. Sandman
