The new system, which is centered around an intuitive graphical interface and an avatar motif, is hoped to attract core and casual users alike.

I love the new setup. It's clean, sharp, and looks very smooth. I wonder what will happen to all those downloadable theme packs from the Marketplace? Hmmm.....

ok, looking for a little insight:
I'm trying to convince my family to completely leave our satellite service behind and opt for an xbox 360 with a netflix subscritption, we have two computers that run vista (my laptop dual boots ubuntu, and while my family is slowly beginning to understand open source, they're nowhere near ready for immersion)

my question comes down to this:

Would it be possible to (without modding, or anything else that would confuse a teenage girl or a married couple approaching their 50's) watch the majority of what we want to watch (Online News Streams, Media stored on our computers, Netflix, etc.) through the new xbox live interface? Especially the online streaming of live television, or hulu, nbc, etc?

I think that the avatars are completely stupid what the hell is the purpose of them for xbox live. There is no purpose it is just for the little kids that shouldn't even be playing on the xbox.
