I have two XBOX 360's - master bedroom and recreation room. My wife and I can each play if we'd like in High Definition, or together if we'd like. Both of mine had a ring of death and the longest delay was my getting on the web / phone to order the repair kit (self addressed box) ... no problems since then. I think it's a great system featuring some really fun games.

This FALL / Winter will see several great new and sequel titles but even more impressively, a whole new XBL experience with really neat Avatars.

My guess is that the Tokyo event will tie-in directly to the update and we'll see the download in October, that's right ... my vote is for sooner, not later.

Look, the Xbox 360 ring of doom is extremely well documented. If you are not aware of this issue please research it before you defend MSFT on this product.

I think the new models have resolved this but there is very good reason to be mad at MSFT if you bought one as recently as a year ago.

The RROD issue is well documented. My first 360 died just over a year after buying it, but was replaced with a refurb immediately at no cost to me. About a year later, the replacement died and was replaced with a different refurb at no cost to me. Sure, it's a minor inconvenience, but what I don't understand is why they send out refurbs that don't fix the underlying problem. The newer boxes have a different motherboard, the falcon processor, lower power consumption/power supply, and a different heat sink setup. replace it with a newer box that will end the problem once and for all.

Ultimately, I sold back my refurbed 360 to game stop (I kept my hard drive and got $100 for it) and got the arcade version. that got me the new processor, an HDMI output and came with a memory card (good for taking your 360 profile with you to other people's houses), a game that's selling for about $40 and now comes with a wireless controller. For me, it was an upgrade completely worth while. In fact, it's an upgrade MS should offer directly to those with the RROD issue.

Yesterday, I downloaded the new XBOX Live update, and when my console restarted, nothing came up on the screen, except a little box that read "not supported." I'm connected to my TV via HDMI. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem?
