So this website is a little wrong... I work for Tmobile... 1. it does have visual voicemail. 2. you get unlimited access to the web... not this 1gb nonsense.

Know that G1 does not equal Android. There will be tons and tons of different design of handsets coming out.

Personally, I love my iPhone much better than G1. The fact that G1 doesn't have multi-touch hinders it 's ability to accomodate a lot of user interactions that makes using a touch screen intuitive and pleasant For example, when you browse the web, how do you zoom in to read larger text? Enough said...

However, just because I don't think G1 is better than iPhone, it doesn't mean that iPhone is better than Android. There will be other phones coming out that use Android and will be better than G1. I personally can't wait to see what great phones will come out of this.

Way to go, Google!

Finally an honest Iphone user. I see there are some other very nice looking HTC devices out there along with many devices from other handset makers and Android could potentialy go on all of them. It could go on phones that haven't even been thought up yet. The Iphone is just stuck to the Iphone.

Also I believe Apple may have somehow patented their multitouch screen so you may never see that on another smartphone.

have to say that i agree with you... on that... i guess what i like the most is the android OS not the phone itself

Does the G1 play MP4 videos?

you know the good thing about G1 is that it has open source, that mean there will be tones of free programs and add-on in the future unlike iphone where you are restricted with the old programs and OS. You can get 8GB of micro SD easily for 40 bucks online. It's well known fact that built storage is gay. Plus it's not practical to store 2000-4000 songs in a phone, I mean do you seriously live with your phone 24/7? You need a live then.

How do they think it is an iPhone killer when you cant even plug stander headphones into it. Then it comes with such a lack of storage!, this is 2008. the phone should have at least 16gb built in if it wants to compete. What a waste of money! I want something BETTER than the iPhone, not worst.

It's clear that iPhone and G1 are both rock star technologies. But I think something crucial has been left out of this comparison. AT&T vs. T-Mobile. Sure, price was looked at, but what about quality and service? I'm no expert on AT&T, but have heard a hundred horror stories about poor service and even poorer customer care. I've been with T-Mobile for over 5 years, and while they tend to be a little slower to market with the coolest phones, I cannot say enough about quality and service. I've had months when I was running high on my minutes and they simply gave me some free bonus minutes for being a long-time customer. When I recently added a line for my son, and the $35 activation fee came up, they decided to give me the phone for free to make up for that charge. Their people are pleasant and intelligent and as much as I wanted an iPhone, I'm glad I stuck with them. T-Mobile simply rocks. (NO, I am NOT a T-Mobile employee.)

"omg the G1 is open source, so that means hackers and viruses and spam and malware and everything bad can go on it easily!!!!!"

CORRECT!!! BUT! you failed to realize that you are the person installing or activating these things. so really its YOUR FAULT if any of these things happen. this phone obviously isnt for everyone, so stick to your crappy iphone and emac's and go draw a picture or something, cause your wasting your time crying about this phone when your Not even going to buy it.

I am increasingly building my knowledge of the Cell Phone Market, and I have waited months for the G1 to arrive. However, why is it that cell phone companies keep producing phones that do not support Blue Tooth Stereo?

Anyone.....

The only thing about the G1 that I like over the iPhone is the fact that it has multimedia messaging, but is that worth getting an inferior product? No! Do you think Apple is actually not going to ever come out with Multimedia messaging on the iPhone? Doubtful. Everytime Apple launches something it's better than the time before that.

First off, the G1 is a complete and total eyesore. Secondly, I'll take the security of vetted apps over the potential issues created by any idiot with a little programming knowledge who creates an app and is slick enough to make it sound appealing, but then when I add it to my phone it creates a serious problem. I seriosuly do not understand everyone's issue with Apples screening process. There is an app out there for everything you could possibly need. Third, if I have an issue with my G1 (an inevitability) what am I going to do? Call T-Mobile and have them try and talk me through it in comparison to a hop over to Apple to have someone actually LOOK at my product? Of course it's easy for a company to create an "answer" to the iPhone over a year after it's debut. They have had time to pick apart every tiny little nuance and customer opinion in order to ATTEMPT to make a better product. But, as usual, too little too late. Zune to iPod anyone? Amazon MP3 store vs iTunes? T-Mobile vs AT&T? Do I even need to mention PC vs Mac? Is anyone even paying attention? I don't think so. The tone of this article is clearly biased.

you would think with all the grief apple took for not being able to sync with exchange that Andriod would have wised up and do whats inevitable.

who cares which phone is better, I have iTunes, so I'll buy the iPhone

There is no such thing as an "iPhone Killer", until another phone that supports iTunes is released.

iTunes is Completely and Utterly FAIL
by TheMessiahOG October 5, 2008 3:00 AM PDT
Well, I'm currently with AT&T, However, I just ordered the T-Mobile G1. I currently own an iphone (1st Gen) so by having the opportunity to own it and have used it, I am in need of something new. I was thinking of updating again as I do every year and was going with the 3G, but its just the same as my 1st gen iphone with 3 differences; video, gps and 3G network capable. Hmm, with that said the T-Mobile G1 is NEW!!!! PLUS MORE!!!!

I'm really excited that someone finally came out (15 Months late) to make apple a run for its money. Haven't you all noticed that apple is an "i" company, ipod, itunes, itv(flop), imac, itouch, and iphone. Its all about itself and I find it a little sellfish and monotonous. Apple a simple advice, let the other software companies in, then maybe you can have different ideas. Besides its not all about you, and the world does not revolve around your "Macworld" well, I take it back, their are some loonies out there and they are the Applefan boyz!!!!

P.S. FOR Sale iphone - $120....

Its not i as in Apple, its I because is very personal.

Its NOT ABOUT FEATURES!! If it were about features the iPod would have failed. Macs would have failed. Its about user experience. When will you all get that through your head. Does the iPhone have everything android does, no, but it does everything it can do much better and easier than on android and thats why the iPhone will always sell better. The G1 is ugly, clunky, and cheap feeling. The iPhone is slick, solid, and easy to use. That equals a win for Apple.

The G1 is More Beautiful, Faster, and Better Built than iPhone Any day. Plus it has a MUCH better UI. Done and Done.
by TheMessiahOG October 5, 2008 1:23 PM PDT
Come on now, your missing the whole picture here. Its called alternatives with better features (better for the consumer). You get it through your thick head that its not all about "Apple"!!! There are other companies out there which google in my opion is better, fresher and is more all about users and developers. They don't shut anyone out with new ideas, they embrace them. As far as some comments out there about the iphone always trying to be duplicated and really no fresh ideas. Well I'm sorry to burst your bubble but the iphone was copied off the LG Prada (design and functionality) and called it there own. I see Apple as a 3M (re-invent or make it better) of the industry but never really invents anything on its own................

the only thing is....both Tmobile and At&t offer poor service....too bad the iPhone isn't on Verizon's network..I currently have a Sidekick 2008, and I can't say i've had a good day with it..I'm at the point where I'm going to give up on these "all-in-one" phones. The ONLY thing the sidekick does well, is the keyboard. Period. And from the looks of the HTC Dream, like ALL tmobile phones, it looks like it's poor quality, and ugly. Software or not, the phone is ONLY as good as the hardware inside. Yes it does this and that, but DOES IT PLACE CALLS EFFECTIVELY? We have yet to see...I think it will be another Samsung instinct myself.

xo.

These threads are amusing. You people must have really boring lives. This is what's wrong with society today. Microsoft, Apple, ATT, T-Mobile. Big corporations, and you guys just keep making them bigger. Don't you know that these corporations are the government. ATT leading the pack. Think about it: When you have a corporation that handles your home telephone service, your cell phone service, along with your home cable service, high speed internet service; as well as, your wireless internet and you have all of your accounts with that one corporation. Do you think that all of the gps programs that are embedded into these phones are for your pleasure and convienience. Think again friends; because, these phones and all of those accounts are for tracking . The day is going to come when we are going to have to adhere to a complete dictatorship. And those tracking devices are going to allow the govenment to find out who has adhered to their policies. The beginning is Feb 2009, the converter boxes for supposedly, "HDTV." This so called signal is not in order by the communication corporations, it's in order by the government, and the government is giving rebates on the boxes.
Since when does the government give money away; unless, it's to benefit themselves. It's to track you; because, your tv is both a receiver and a transmitter. Eventually, sometime next year the HD radios for your car will be mandatory also. When you guys keep supporting these corporations who are making these devices, in the end ,you will be to blame when Uncle Sam comes knocking on your door wanting to know where your new Homeland Security ID is. Which is going to be the same ID that is going to allow you to buy, sell, or trade anything, ( The number of the beast) the Beast being our government, and you don't have that ID because you refuse to get it. When they arrest you or worse kill you, and they will find you, because the HD signals along with the gps signals from these phones will all communicate with a tiny little chip that will be embedded into the Homeland Security ID and if you have a device that is emmiting a signal and it does not get a response from the ID they will have you. So the next time you want to spend $500.00 on a so called smart phone just remember, the fate of our society is in your hands.

well, THE G1 is not bad in features but that's not enough to compare it to iphone 3g. There will always be some differences between technologies. I am not impressed by the g1 as long as i am in love with my iphone. after all it's still the sexiest out there, just by looking at the design, icons etc... also don't forget that WITH A 16GB IPOD IN IT i can save most of my favorite movies etc.. I doubt you can do that with the G1.

very funy indeed that composer _1777 , don't waste your time teaching him some manners but i wonder how he would carry multiple cards to use with G1. perhaps he might want to carry 8-10 movies on those cards, that's if the G1 has somekind of ipod in it. with 16gb i have 7 full lenght movies, photos, audiobooks, a big music library, podcasts etc... and still left with 6.5gb. never mind a G1.

@ roro2966, Please do some more research about the capacity size than can be used on the G1.... Remember you have a static 16GB hard drive, and THATS IT!!!! I could have only 2 16gb SD cards and I can hold more than you can..... I think thats the point he was trying to make. THE G1 IS MORE EXPANDABLE PERIOD!!!!!
