My second-gen 80GB Zune will be very pleased. I dropped my Zune Pass subscription a few months ago, but being able to stream and download over Wi-Fi will probably bring me back.

I agree that the Zune software was buggy at first, but I have had zero issues with the most recent update (v2.5). Many Zune users, myself included, like the Zune as much for the PC software as for the device itself. For podcast support, media tagging, and generally simple and intuitive media management, it is very hard to beat. I prefer it over iTunes, easily.

I never thought it would happen... reading other people's comments on Cnet's other Zune articles, I'm starting to notice a lot more positive reinforcement. In an age where the internet can kill a product off in a matter of months, it's good to see some love for the Zune!

I have the second gen 80GB Zune. I was satisfied with it before and I think I will like it even more with the new features. I loved being able to play music and videos on the Zune. Other PMPs are either too big or too small.

All i can say is OMG this is awesome for my Family of Zunes. I have an 80 that i love and my wife has a 4 gig, and i have my old 30 connected to the tv. This is great news. Ways to go MSFT. I must say though that i have been waiting to DL from THE KLOUD on a zune and i am happy the time has finally come. We all knew it was coming just didn't know it was happening in 7 days. Totally siked!

I have a first gen Zune, and it's a tad clunky but gets the job done. My only complaint in the beginning was the Zune had alot of potential but the software hindered it. I also appreciate the fact that Microsoft isn't leaving the early adopters behind and not charging for the "privilege" of new features. Granted the update screwed up my playlists and such but the aggravation was minimal because I was so delighted with all the improvements made to the Zune software/firmware.

I dont know why so many people had problems with the new software. I love it! it's extremely simple and fun to use, and great for discovering music. And being able to download music straight from your Zune will be sick! I could get new music at school even!

Remember when microsoft said that they were either going to lower the price on the Zune Pass or make it more worthwhile? Well they choose the second option, and made it a great deal with being able to get new music whenever, and buy music straight from a radio station.

Now, Microsoft, you just have to launch an ad campaign for Zunes, to tell everyone how awesome they are.

Nice news for my 80 gig Zune I bought he first day they came out here in Canada. It works amazingly with Vista media centre for importing recorded TV shows.

Now when is the Zune marketplace arriving in Canada? I love watching podcasts and recorded TV, but need my music fix.

Sweet. I'm kind of upset since i got my 2nd gen recently, but if it works the same and i get the software update or whatever then i am totally excited. I don't know about you people but i think that the zune surpasses the ipod/itunes in value. The zune seems to have more features for a lower price and they have this free update, whereas the people at apple seem to roll around in their money and 70% of the market like pigs. I hope the zune becomes more popular, or at least sets an example for what an mp3 player should be.

Zune pwns iPod. The only difference with a 3rd Gen is the extra 40GB of HDD space, which is nothing to scoff at, but I've personally downloaded just about every song I could possibly ever consider listening to with my Zune Pass, and I'm only using 22GB out of 80GB.

I read the words "optimistic", "solid" and "useful software" at the end of the article about a Microsoft product. Hmmm... Ok.

I think Microsoft missed an opportunity to partner up with Sirius XM. It would have been great to listen to Sirius channels and select songs to purchase from there. I can't stand FM radio. Who in the world can stand listening to 30 minutes of comercials just to hear a single song that you may want to buy. Its a good idea, but they should have gone with sat radio, not fm. I fear the feature will not be used by many.

FM is a lame way to find songs. no one will use it. too many comercials...they should have gone with Sirius or XM.

1 question. If you get zune pass for 1 month (if you can for only 1) will you keep all them music that you got from the channels AS WELL as the your other marketplace music?

Unfortunately you do not get to keep the music you download with Zune Pass if you let your subscription expire.

I have a Zune 80 and absolutely love it. The fact that MS offers the updates and everything for free is outstanding. I have had zero problems with the software or hardware and couldn't be more happy. No I do not work for MS
