Comments on: Forget Seinfeld, Microsoft, you want the two Coreys

Crave asked readers who would be a better spokesman for the Redmondians. Their suggestions range from the insightful to, well, the just plain cruel.

What the heck does Microsoft need to market for anyways? Since when does anyone pay attention to advertisements? They should just use the advertising money to build community centers around the country instead. Seinfeld has enough money...give it to under-privileged youth!

Actually, I was shocked at how much I got for the money with an online ordered PC and Vista: 2.6 duo, 3g, 250g HD, 256m video, and a 22" monitor. $619. It works great once everything is set to classic view and you take a little time to learn your way around. The same machine with Linux is the same price. I gave Vista a try since I could always install Linux. A comparable MAC was three times as much for comparable hardware, and yes I have owned a MAC. Not worth the inflated prices for everything. Maybe buying the software, hardware, and OS from one vendor is not the greatest deal.
Windows is overpriced if you just order it outright or upgrade as compared to MAC multi licenses. PC: good hardware value, overpriced OS upgrades. MAC: good OS value, way overpriced hardware.

I would associate Apple users more with the borg now. You don't see Microsoft users lining up to buy phones (of all things). Come on, if anyone is brainwashed these days, it's the Apple fanatics who are on Jobs' jock.

One real good choice would be ventriloquist Jeff Dunham and his cast of characters! Walter would send up Vista like no one else. Achemed, the dead terrorist, "use Vista or we keel you!" A riot!

Jerry Stiller is my vote. His brand of exuberant/angry comedy would be the perfect foil for a parade of young 'guest stars' for the campaign. The guest stars would keep it fresh and hip, jerry appeals to young, old and middle-aged, as would his parade of guests. Guests could be chosen to play up themes and issues.

ms can save their money, I've moved on and winslop is no longer a part of the computing picture.

L I N U X !

The penquins are in charge now, and no looking back.

Add to the fact that I don't find seinfeld all that funny, and as for the puppet master behind the curtain larry david, I don't find him that funny either. The ONLY, and I mean ONLY reason to watch curb your enthusiasm is Cheryl Hines with out her and the show wouldn't even run. I put it on, hit mute, and go from there.

crapple's current PC v. Mac ads I find entertaining would it cause me to purchase a mac, nope.

same with crapple's ipod and iphone ads. Other than leading me to find some new music from Feist (I don't listen to most modern music, mostly 50-60's), but again, not buying crapple products.....

Why doesn't crapples ad's result in sales???

I think the products are over priced by at least a factor of 10, they don't meet my needs, can not be upgraded easily due to vendor lock in, and a long list of other things.

I can easily go to newegg pick a motherboard, some memory, hard disk, dvd writer, etc. put it all together, install Linux and instant computer. Need to upgrade back to newegg and pick new parts.....I've built my own since 1985 and I am not going back.

winslop is dead, and LINUX is the new king, just go away crapple and ms!

Well, apparently the Operating System can't sell itself. But I may be responding too harshly. I've used Vista and to me, it seems like Microsoft is trying to hard to do too little.

I'm going to wait for Windows 7. The whole situation smells like a new ME to me; although that can't really be a fair assessment since ME was absolutely horrible. Vista isn't nearly as bad, but bad enough (from what I've used of it) for me not to buy it or recommend its deployment into the enterprise.

Jerry Seinfeld is a decision that only an out of touch marketing executive would make. If Microsoft is trying to cut the migration of PC users to Apple Seinfeld is not your answer.

they should try for a comedian under 30 like the guys that did superbad, and juno and knocked up, someone with at least a little edge and that is current, unless they want stupid seinfeld fans to buy their products..wait they should use bob newhart

Put Ballmer in the ads. Consumers need to see what they are really buying.

I previously switched to a Mac from a PC. Said Mac was dying within a year of purchase. My experience, therefore, suggests Microsoft does not need to invest much in advertising to win back former customers. Money thrown away on a product that does not even last long enough to disappoint your expectations makes one appreciate how reliability and performance trump hipsterism and image any day, any time, anywhere.

IBM already used the Borg to sell OS/2, so that's not likely, since that would bring up the way Microsoft betrayed IBM and stabbed them in the back specifically over OS/2.
