Noooo!! I just got the lowest end model for $398 (w/shipping) the second it came out in the states. That REALLY sucks for early adopters like me. I figured they couldn't possibly lower the price any more, it's already the cheapest netbook out there with the most features. I love my Aspire One, but darn!

I guess I won't be waiting for the 6-cell msi wind.

Early adoption and getting screwed go together like peanut butter and chocolate. I know you're not complaining about it so no, I'm not busting your chops. I just don't understand the run-out-and-buy it attitude a lot of people have.

I've had my eye on the Aspire One for a while now but have been biding my time, watching and waiting for new models, more competition, etc. With technology, you're always buying in too late, but I'd rather buy in too late and get a good deal rather than try to buy in early and get screwed.

I've look all over. WHERE can I buy one for $329?

You can get an Acer Aspire one for $329 at Circuit City. That is where I got mine and I really like it. Cnet says the battery life on a 3 cell battery is a little over 2 hours but mine runs for 2 hours and 50 minutes. Not bad for a small battery. Go and get on for yourself, you will like it.

I wonder where I can buy one too?! Maybe CNET is too exited over the great Obama's VP pick! The editors are probably over at the Daily KOOK or MoveOn.IHATEAMAERICA getting new info fir this "tech" site.

Best Buy has the XP + 3-cell version in this week's flyer. However, my local store said they don't stock the 6-cell version, which is the one I really want. Does anyone know who has it for sale?

The BestBuy weekly mentioned above has he following specs:

Processor
Intel Atom(TM)
Processor Speed
1.6GHz
Display Type
WSVGA widescreen display with 1024 x 600 resolution
Screen Size
8.9"
System Bus
533MHz
Cache Memory
512KB on die Level 2
System Memory (RAM)
1GB
Hard Drive Size
120GB

While I already have a notebook I may get this as a second as I have gift cert for BB that covers half the cost at $350. This would make a nice, very portable, little linux box and would be an easy install as long a I can PXE boot it from ethernet. If anyone has one and know if you can PXE boot this machine that would be very helpful.

From what I have heard the Atom is very power efficient as well and the Intel graphics would more than suffice to run Compiz-Fusion

I wondered at first where I could buy one but thought I would google it rather than post as a guise about my personal politics. Besides, since I have contributed to both MoveOn and the EFF, it's clear that I either must hate America or have actually read a Chomsky book or two. :)

To those searching for Acer Aspire Ones: try Circuit City for the Linux version and Best Buy for the XP version. Latest pricing as of 8/24 for Southern California: CC (in store) had the Linux version for $309.99, but website says $369.99. BB had the XP version for $349.99, but many stores were sold out.

I stopped by my local Best Buy and they were out. All the stores in my area are but a truck has 4 on them that is suposed to deliver first thing this morning. I'm going to get there before open as 4 of these for an area with about 350,000 people won't make it to lunch I'm guessing.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy the 6 cell battery and how much? I just bought the 3 cell Acer Aspire AOA150-1570 for my husband for Christmas and I want to buy the 6 cell battery as an additional gift. By the way, anyone looking to purchase this unit can get an amazing deal from Staples. Not only do they offer a $50 Visa gift card rebate, but there's a rebate for a free HP printer. Check it out.
