The rather colorful ad--in which a wife pukes after seeing what her husband has been viewing online--has been removed from the Microsoft IE 8 "Browse Better'' campaign.

I get the OMGIGP feeling every time I've used IE.
In fact, they can change the acronym to IE:OMGIGP
After watching this ad, the take away for the Microsoft ad had multiple pictures of a woman vomiting on her husband.
It doesn't change my impression of Microsoft products nor does it change my habits as a user. It does, however, leave me with the impression that there are some very strange people in Microsoft's marketing department.

- The commercial was basically a '1-time laugh' anyway and even though I'm a Dean Cain fan, this just shows how much Microsoft seriously doesn't get it. Comic mistiming as the wife saw his porn history 1 second after he leaves the laptop. Of course you should get IE8 to get the overdue privacy feature.. but since he didn't have that - it begs the question what browser was he using? Probably IE6 if he's idiotic enough to go to hairy______.com.

Showing 3 of 3 pages (88 Comments)It's bad enough Microsoft resorts to a 'puke-based campaign' but why advertise a feature that's so common and completely not innovated on in IE8. For example google chrome has a full incognito mode so you can visit hairywhatever.com with full tab support and simultaneously have a window for regular browsing using a light UI. On top of that, IE8 is still not fully standards compliant - as a web designer, I'm shocked that stuff that works perfectly for Firefox2 is not even properly interpreted yet.
With products( and campaigns) such as Vista, Microsoft Zune(read an article saying Bill Gates banned his kids from ipods), IE, 'BING' their new search engine/service that really just directs you to ads and poor taste all around, Microsoft should question how in-touch it is with any user base - considering how much and how badly they've missed the mark of late, it's scary to project that forward. Windows 7 better be downright amazing otherwise the only direction for Microsoft is down.
