Comments on: Pizza Hut searches for Twittering intern

The restaurant chain is looking to hire a summer intern whose sole job will be to boost the chain's presence on Twitter. Really.

Had this article been posted 19 days ago, I would have found it amusing. This, however, is ludicrous.

\Applying for the position now... j/k.

Neat idea -- only an internship, but wouldn't surprise me if Pizza Hut (and others) soon have a full-time "social media" expert on staff to handle Twitter, FB, etc, and stay on top of online trends, attitudes, etc.

Headline: Pizza Hut seeks its first Twintern. BUT, its actually just a Twinternship as a "member of the PR team"

Granted, some of the "hands-on opportunities" sound amazing.... But, I question if the "fully integrated member of the PR team" status will corrupt every ounce of that amazingness.

Pizza Hut needs to think of this at a larger strategy level, not a worker bee surfing the interwebs making pizza hut blog posts! The digital immigrants will likely make sure your unprecedented innovation is suppressed.

I think Pizza Hut IS being strategic here...they're looking to real consumers to be the voice of the brand, a tactic that is sure to succeed in the wary world of social media.

Here's my two cents:http://www.grownupthinking.com/?p=520.

This has already generated a lot of buzz for Pizza Hut. Even though it seems a bit rushed (but timely because of the Domino's fiasco), I believe Pizza Hut will execute this quite well. College students are capable and Pizza Hut is smarter than you think. More info at http://bit.ly/twinternship
