everyone forgot that AMD fought years and years for the right to make 32 bit CPUs that Intel claimed AMD couldnt. During the time, AMD got behind with necessary capital expenditures to build new fabs to build the next generation CPU known as 80386 way back in the early 1990's. Intel built fabs and got way ahead of AMD. Ever since, it had been a catch up battle for AMD.. Remember Intel lost the court to AMD on 32 bit articheture. This was a big hollow victory for AMD because Intel got ahead while using the court to slow AMD down... It was a critical phase that AMD needed and missed!

Also, I would suggest that Windows OS be tailored separately for Intel and AMD. Apple had its OS tailored to Intel chips. You see, some users are heavy on programs and others are heavy on data and only one or two programs on the whole disk. Users are different. Overall, there is no efforts to take maximum advantages of the 32/64 bit chips now made by both AMD and Intel. Since there is still so few choices of 64 bit programs or applications even if you chose Windows 64 bit OS. I dont know about the commerical applications. I am talking about home applications.. I dont see any.. But I know that I could have 64 bit search in any Windows OS , but Microsoft chose not to offer that in all Windows OS.. Microsoft could have offered 32/64 bit OS. For example, I would like to search for my files the 64 bit way, but I still have slow 32 bit search , Why is that so?? I am not asking for 64 bit portability to external apps.. I am talking about internal Windows 64 bit applications like text search, movie maker, Photo Gallery, Accessories , etc that you see in the Start Menu.. Why arent they 64 bit in all Windows OS.. I dont think I will ever need Windows 64 because I am not a commerical user. I am a home user but I could use better 64 bit apps inherent in Windows apps itself...

It sounds like AMD sour grapes to me, mobility isn't AMD's strong point and for Apple they do not make the smarter choice. If Apple was a gamer machine maker (a la Alienware) or primarily a server maker, maybe it makes sense.

The crux of Apple's argument for exclusivities is they benefit the consumer by rebates in the form of lower system SRP's. We've heard about these new low prices for almost a year now, but has anyone seen any? I think not. Similarly, if this is the best argument Apple can make for the benefits of exclusitivies, you know they're lying. I'd prefer Apple play like a true enlightened meritocracy and allow us to make our own choices of AMD or Intel. Microsoft does that and it works for them. Apple has not exactly been firing on all cylinders with their new "strategy" - two quarters in a row now of historically huge year over year losses tells us that lots of Mac lovers ain't showin' Apple too much love lately.

What "new" strategy? Intel Mac came on the scene in 2006 and it is 2009.

What "historial year over year losses"? Revenue continues to grow and profitability continues to grow, what losses?

If you are referring to drop in sales, the entire PC market is sinking, and Apple actually is outperforming the rest of the PC market in its sales. A little research would have brought that up.

Stick to sharing why Apple may or may not be using a supposedly better or worse chipset, that is more interesting.

Arab Micro Devices is just bunch of whiners who are just going around the world and whining that nobody is using their products!

Get over it AMD!

Sure, you once had a better product than Intel but anymore and looks like you can't repeat the success because Intel's is keep pounding you with better products every quarter!

Looks like you will go down in the history as One Hit Wonder!

Tell AMD and the Euro Union to stick it up their back side.

This goes all the way back to the basic x86 architecture. It is not the processor that makes the computer whole. It is the sum of all the parts that make the computer work. AMD is still, and will always cry foul for Intel's 24+ years success with IBM's (clone) x86 motherboard designs. Perhaps "Clone" is the key word here. Ease of fabracation, simple northbridge/southbridge communication sets. Why make it harder than it is to design a computer motherboard that has worked with Intels' processors this long. Intel/IBM made it simple. Since AMD had to go with there "proprietery" motherboard architecture after there crybaby lawsuite spat from Intel in the early 80's, perhaps this is why AMD has so many problems and nobody is buying AMD.

I certainly hope Apple does not adopt AMD processors. Intel is the best choice for their computers.

Oh wow AMD give it a rest, you got your money! Playing the bullied little kid card is just old, get on with your job and make some actually good CPU's.

(Don't bother posting a few hundred replies to this showing me how wrong I am about AMD chips not being good, my mind is already made up.)
