I would feel bad for the people at my local Circuit City but they sucked at their job. I went their with my dad in 2008 to buy my first laptop. The service then was okay. When the laptop had a problem we took it back because we knew it was still under warranty. They pulled our information up and then proceeded to tell us we hadn't bought the warranty! They weren't able to explain where the extra $200 on our total had come from and the guy who actually sold us the laptop ran and hide in the back of the store when they told us this. They wouldn't even admit to making a mistake.

I truly do not think that many people understand the way retail works. I would like to pose the question, how do retail employees get paid? Is CC or BB a non- profit organization along with Wal-mart, Amazon, Ebay, etc? No all these business' are not non-profit. Anaother question, how do business' make a profit? For someone who is educated, contrary to the belief of some people stating that retail employees are not, I have worked in retail for 5 years. The company I work for I would rather not state, but as a general rule we do not condone ripping off the general public. We but products from vendors, and of course mark them up a percentage in order to make a profit and to pay our employees. No one works for free and the sooner cheap, arrogant customers understand this the better off our economy will be. We should be highly concerned that 34,000 employees are going to be out of a job ehich means they can't afford a home, a car, or afford to shop for anything of their choice. In short we all lose, especially if we are the ones making those cars, realtors, or other "non-educated" retail employees.

Don't you worry a bit: Best Buy's day of reckoning is also coming; it'll just take a little bit longer.

I always liked Circuit City. I rarely went to Best Buy simply because they are NOT the "best buy". I've been turned off by their lack of help and lack of customer service. It was better last month though when I happened to go in there. I purchased my camera, video camera, LCD screen, laptop, and other items at Circuit City because they had the "Best Price" and would always match or beat any competitors. I will miss Circuit City and some of the great employees that were always more helpful than any other store!
Thanks Circuit City! Sorry to see you go!

When a company like Circuit City goes into liquidation, all of their assets are then owned by a liquidation company, (not Circuit City) who's main goal is to makes as much as humanly possible on whatever they can. The 10-30% off will stick around until people slow their purchases, then more discounts will come. They also will not discount in special cases, return items once they are bought, or care if you are mad. I went through liquidation at the CompUSA I worked at. It is a raw deal for the employees that stick around. So if you have an issue at your local Circuit City, ask to see the Liquidator, not the store manager as he has no control over the store or the prices, and do not go off on the employees, as they are having to find new jobs during this tough economic time.

I wouldn't call Circuit City a crappy company or anything close to what a lot of people seem to be saying just now. CompUSA....absolutely and definitely...I have never once had a good experience with CompUSA. Bad service, really lousy policies and the worst possible prices.

I have been to many Circuit City stores these last few years and my experiences differ greatly from store to store. In some stores the help from the sales guys was just amazing (considering I am a technophile that is high praise). In some stores the service was quite bad.

They have always had very competitive pricing compared to a Best Buy or any of the retail chains. Best Buy is the exact opposite of what the name suggests (Worst Buy). You will always pay more at Best Buy.

Circuit City Store Vs. Best Buy Store: The entire display aesthetic or selection in a Circuit City store is nowhere near Best Buy. You gotta understand that almost everyone knows electronics are cheaper online(deals and clearances on items being an exception). Most people who walk in expect to be able to see a lot of selection to compare and informed people who can help. Often they don't mind paying a little more for this. Best Buy's only saving grace is that they understand that. The service still sucks but at least they have a great selection and know how to showcase it.

Lastly, it is terrible that 34000 people lost their jobs. I can't begin to imagine the morale or what they are going through. My sympathies. STOP BASHING THE COMPANY. It is gone already. Just for one moment imagine yourself reading this thread as an employee/ex-employee of circuit city. Find your deals elsewhere. There are plenty.

I want to thank everyone who sympathizes [sorry, can't spell] with us. It's very funny, but what Joker said in the Dark Knight movie is true. You won't know a person's true face until the very end [death, or otherwise]. This is exactly what we are seeing right now - "good natured folks" turning into scavenging hyenas.

Those people who didn't want to purchase things from us when we had better sales now have absolutely no right to complain about the liquidation. Everyone who comments on here who complains about it has those very same complaints fall on deaf ears. We don't care about you or your sob day, or how many wads of money you have stuffed up your tight ass, or how you failed to buy something earlier and now you want a better price.

Bash the liquidation prices all you want. The liquidators don't care either, and NO, they will not budge on those percentages either, no matter how much you request to talk to the management or that liquidator guy. I laugh at the futile efforts of "What can you do on this price for me?" ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, you tightwad. I won't do anything for you no matter how many times you ask me. Nobody ever listened when we told them, buy now and just come back for price adjustment later. This is what you get for being stingy.

Either you buy what we have now or **** of my store. Should've bought things before we liquidated, you cheap ingrates.
