Even notoriously pro-MS magazines like Maximum PC and PC World are paying more attention to Macs and rightfully slamming MS.

I just got an Ubuntu Dell, and I'm loving it.

I'll be taking it around hijacking apple mindshare as much as i possibly can.
...it's funny really, because linux still has more games than mac does, plus the next ubuntu is probably going to ship with WINE preinstalled, and if OSX still has to be rebooted into windows while ubuntu does not, well..

'course, apple is the type to mooch off of FOSS as much as possible, take it, advertise it, technically stick to the license... maybe buy it out, you know-- but never tell the end user where the code really came from, so if they ship WINE after we do, i won't be surprised at all.

Exclusivity doesn't mean something isn't second best, it just means its anticompetitive.

Good luck with your mindshare hijacking. Do you know how much "Ubuntu" and "WINE" and "FOSS" mean to the average, non-geek computer user? Exactly zilch. You may as well be speaking Swahili!

I have to wonder what the CONSUMER percentage of Mac usage is. I'm sure it's much higher than 10%. Businesses are still buying PCs but customers who know about computers--although not necessarily nerds-- are buying Macs...and they are recommending them to their friends.

I am always troubleshooting co-workers PCs and when they ask me for advice on what computer to buy I always tell them a Mac. In the past year, six of them have followed my advice and couldn't be happier.

Except now they wonder why our company uses such a crappy computer.

Obviously, the Wintel folks think that Mac users are wrong. And I am a Mac user who hopes that the market share of Macs never rises too high. I'd rather be in the small minority of the intelligent, than have to be part of the much larger majority of Lemmings.

Just look at the post by benjwah. A deeply thought out reaction to a fact. "You are all idiots".

I guess that's a good reflection of some political views too! Too bad Rush Limbaugh uses a Mac!

I disagree with the person who says Mac's hold the usefulness longer. Apple is constantly persuading user's to upgrade through big product announcements. Their OS version support drops off quicker then Microsoft supports its older operating systems. Steve Jobs and Apple are all about today and forget the past. You can not say Apple's hardware is any better then a PC out there. Especially now that they both run Intel products. Hardware is hardware and their is little difference. Most Mac users seem to try and make logical excuses as to why they paid so much for a Mac. Its really quite simple. Steve Jobs and Apple are very good and convincing Americans that Apple is the way to go. As for the sales in other parts of the world not being as good. It seems those people are much more inclined to be smart shopper's. They simple cannot afford to spend more for a Mac.

I really don't understand why people get so wrapped up in what they have. If a person has a Mac, they're dissing PC users, and if a person has a PC they're dissing Mac users. I've used both extensively and I have to say it doesn't make a flipping difference which one I'm sitting in front of. From my home user's standpoint, Macs are just simply overpriced for the hardware you get. That's my only real gripe about them. Well, that and the availability of parts plus a limited software library. I'm typing this on a Linux machine if that makes any difference before the personal attacks begin.
