i don't know about everyone else, but I've never not found what I'm looking at when I've used the search box in wikipedia...
it searches wikipedia, which...well...anyone can already do by going to wikipedia and using their search.
of course, their claim to fame is that the powerset technology catalog's and organizes all the information on wikipedia into a nice, user-friendly environment.
BUT, in order to actually achieve those results, they would have to personally hand-craft every theoretical search. no automation software short of full AI can accomplish what powerset hopes to accomplish, and they'd have to employ half of india to get their customized pages.
finally, when i searched with a question as they suggest, the result i was looking for was the fifth link from the top. on google, the exact same search was the third link from the top. so even their search technology is sub-par.
$100 million, for microsoft, sure, makes sense. i don't know if anyone else would pay that kind of money for their "technology."
