...glad I don't use either one.

(maybe if they rebooted their servers in stages instead of one-at-a-time?)

Power outage related?
by n3td3v February 26, 2008 2:57 PM PST
MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- A "significant equipment failure" at a
substation west of Miami triggered Tuesday afternoon's blackouts
around southern Florida, a Florida Power & Light official said.

Utility spokeswoman Aletha Player said an investigation is ongoing,
and provided no details of the failure. But she said the 700,000
customers affected by the outage in southern Florida should have power
restored by 5:30 p.m.

Outages were reported from Miami to Jacksonville on Florida's east
coast and as far north as Tampa on the Gulf Coast, police and utility
officials said.

The outage occurred shortly after 1 p.m., the company said.

I don't see Florida (a dozen feet above Sea Level, prone to hurricanes, etc) as being a really big datacenter mecca, you know?

I'm thinking it may have to do with the MSN/Live messenger update thingy that just came out.

It probably was the update.

A new version of Live Messenger was released today. It added several functionalities depending upon which version one was updating from. Particularly, Hotmail and Office live mail could be merged if one chose. Think this could be the prob?

When MS bought Hotmail it was BSD and Linux based and they've been converting over since - maybe they should have stayed with what worked
