Those annoyances are just plain stupid. Explorer doesn't crash for me making thumbnails, maybe perhaps if you are making thumbnails of video files using a third party codec...sound settings that are burried? Come on, it is easy enough to get to them, the sound options are split, playback or recording devices...how hard is that?

I really worry about a world where Windows Vista is "too hard" for someone to use. Someone writting a book about annoyances in Windows must have a boring life, it isn't like Microsoft is going to actually listen...

The only thing I agree with is explorer does often choose the incorrect view for files, that's about it.

Our company has a group of 5 system administrators. We are all early adopters of Vista - and we are all going back to XP - temporarily of course. Microsoft is bound to fix Vista in a year or so. (We are having various problems with system tools, drivers, search ... ) Recently I pulled an old laptop with XP from the trash and was surprised how much faster it was to work with...

There are a lot of free sites out there that will tell you the same info and offer downloads of the reg hacks. I use the how to geek and they offer a lot of useful (FREE) info and downloads.
