Comments on: Touch in Windows 7: Just for show?

Support for multitouch input is one of the most tangible ways that Windows 7 differs from its predecessors. But will many people actually get their hands on the technology?

What do you consider a "killer application" that would make the touch screen business take off?

This technology sounds very interesting... Reading through some of the comments I can see the angles and perspective's everyone is coming from regarding using a touch screen OS on a currently designed laptop... I think it would be interesting if the screen could detach completely from a typing device, leaving the screen to touch on the go and the typing device for home/work usage....Idk I think this technology, if fully supported by developers, has the ability to completely change laptops/desktops as we know them...

What is needed is pressure sensitivity and finger tip nibs so that you screen basically can be used like a Wacom tablet. Artists and graphics designers and Photo editors would kill for this. For most everything else I really don't see the point.

To be truly thinking outside the box, I can't wait for the day when they make a device where you can just THINK the movements and they happen. I think the prototypes have been developed for the disabled. I want something that can keep up with my brain! No more carpal tunnel syndrome...
