Anyone happen to have a direct link to Microsoft's iso? The product key (seemingly one of the biggest bottlenecks in getting to the download) can wait a few days until there's less stress on the server.

If windows 7 isn't a free or heavily discounted upgrade then its just another example of Microsoft making consumers guinea pigs and beta testers to get something halfway right. It seems you can ignore the people who have spent a lot of money on new hardware and that 'new' expensive OS. It also better just be 1 single release, not the home basic, basic premium, premium fantastic corp nonsense they pull.

Windows 7 looks like they fixed whats wrong with Vista, but isn't that something that should have done with Vista before the 2007 launch? What are people paying for? Why does Microsoft get a automatic 'do over' ?

Ubuntu baby. Ubuntu.

Some people are not built for that. They'll choke on the sweet air of freedom.

It is now 3:36 EST and this is beyond belief
How can Microsoft screw up the beta....they should have over capacity for this.....and i'm not even a "complainer".....

If you call Microhoo (800) 426-9400 and ask, they will send you the CD.

Possible Windows 7 ad:
Announcer: "Yes, really, we got it right this time. No, really, we're not kidding. It's not Vista, really, please believe us." Cut to scene of Bill Gates wiggling his butt and Windows users get all excited and drool at the sight of Gates shaking his wrinkly derriere. "YES, I'm a PC and I'm proud to be lame!"?he proclaims loudly.

Obviously, everyone is allowed to voice their own opinion (I'm not the least bit threatened by someone trashing Microsoft -- I didn't start the company); but what is perfectly clear is that people who have to bash the competition are definitely masking their own uncertainties and insecurities. Obsess much?

That's a real shame. I am definitely over Vista. I figured this would happen. Even though 2.5 million is a huge number, I bet all us tech geeks want it so badly.

I've been sitting on that site since 9 AM PFC today -_-

thanks for the link, metal. I think I read from the spokeswoman, the words, "before we post the public Beta today," -- which at least keeps the release happening today/tonight. Donms posted 7PM. PST? Microsoft source?

All it will take is one phone to my Dad,Bill Gates. He`ll get the download sites up and running.

Before I even try to download it, I need to know... Will it Dual-Boot on my new MacBook Wheel? ;)
OK. Seriously... since it's not being distributed via BitTorrent, it seems prudent to wait for the initial tidal wave of interest to disperse. Of course if MS WAS using a P2P distribution model, the initial crest of interest would likely be the best time to download, no?

Anyone else thinks that it is hilarious that an Apple Fan "AppleRocks1963" is loitering in a WIN7 Beta forum? Either he is just as anxious to get his hands on the software himself, or he is an apple employee, with nothing to do other than poke fun at all of the people who are distraught that Microsoft still hasn't learned how to host a mass download, and disseminate keys in an appropriate fashion. You would think that after seeing that Firefox 3 mass download had issues in the morning of its release, and they were going for a download record. Not I changed my mind, everyone can wait till tomorrow, until we get more servers running. How can they say we didn't expect such high demands? There are over 300 Million licenses of Vista in the world, 2.5 million Beta Keys isn't even 1% of the demographics, and doesn't even consider all of the users on Windows XP who didn't upgrade because either their proprietary software didn't work on Vista or the cost benefits of Vista wasn't there.
