By the time they spend all the manhours to get a purchase of vista approved, they could have afforded to just buy it instead of wasting everyones salaries on not doing productive work.

Instead of upgrading at all, they'd be better just to wait till they purchase new computers. What's the point of upgrading an older computer to Vista if XP is working just fine.

Unsubstantiated rumor has it that the Washington State Legislature is considering requiring state agencies to get written approval from the Legislative Budget Board before buying any product manufactured in Texas or sold by a company headquartered in Texas.

For the clueless - that's a joke at the moment. If the Texas Lege passes their amendment, though, all bets are off.

From the state that brought us Bush, why does anyone listen or care about what comes out of Texas?

I am an Australian Citizen and computer geek. The USA senator's motion to stop government departments using VISTA (Total waste of money with huge upgrade everything else costs) is the most sane thing I have heard in recent years from any American senator.

Yet another law Microsoft would have to be aware of. Maybe a law simular to this would give the power back to the consumer that Microsoft had to build software that worked and worked correctly.
They would have to take more consideration to backwards compatibility. And more aware of what the consumer demands.

Let's see, 90% of business desktops use Windows (ok, less using Vista), but let's now make it harder for people to do their jobs. If I thought any of these Legislators had a technology clue, I might give them a break, but most are as technophobe as you can get. after all, they have Aides, Secretaries, etc. They never have to use any technology.
