Comments on: Get an Asus Eee PC Netbook for $129.95

Great for kids, students, or anyone seeking a spare PC to toss in a bag for basic on-the-run computing, this Linux-powered refurb will almost certainly sell out.

Got this. I may have gotten the last or one of the last ones because it was out of stock when I looked back 15 min later. White is still in stock for those that were interested. How would you guys suggest upgrading this unit? Probably start with a cheap and easy RAM upgrade. 1gb or 2? Any other suggestions? Thanks Rick. I have gotten 3 products through your finds (I desktop and iPod Nano), all refurbished and all working great!

Don't get me wrong, it is a good deal. But for $149.99, at Toys R Us, you can get a ASUS 7" Eee Notebook w/ Linux on it, and an 8gb SSD. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. Another plus, it's new and not refurbished, which means you still get the standard 1 year limited warranty whereas with the refurbished one, you get a 3 month warranty .

Are you certain the Toys R Us deal is an 8GB SSD and not 4GB SSD + 4GB SD card?

If you want a real cheap netbook, take a look at this fake Acer Aspire One: http://www.shanzai.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=46:shanzai-aspires-to-quality-netbook-&catid=3:notebooks&Itemid=5&dsq=12679632#comment-12679632

Apart from the VIA C7-M processor, it's exactly the same as the original.

Got mine on Saturday!

Such a fun toy. I used the Linux interface for all of 60 seconds before I ditched it and installed Tiny XP. It works really well. Much faster than I had anticipated.

They keyboard is impossibly small for regular typing, but I've been able to deal with it by changing my typing style. The monitor is nice and bright, and the speakers are... functional.

No complaints! It does exactly what I want it to do.

Can anyone tell me it this PC is usable with Linux for mostly Internet. A little text stuff, No music. Will it be user fast enough. I had a Laptop with a Celeron chip (1.5GH Dec 2002) and Windows XP and it was so slow. To do anything you had to click and wait. I mean really slow. I hated it.

If I'm not mistaken, Tiny XP is illegal. Pirated / Stolen. Not wise / ethical for business use or any use. Could be use as a basis for dismissal / firing. Probable cause to search PC, etc. Employees beware.
