Yeah, I've got a Windows-based netbook with me while I'm in SF, and I'm trying to decide if I could just as easily be using Linux. Mostly I'm working in a browser or OpenOffice, but I do have occasional need for iTunes. That's the ONE stumbling block!

As I recall, these are a modders paradise. Need XP? You can load it onto a flash drive and mount it internally. But it is a hill of trouble.

Actually, the lack of XP and presence of Linux makes me want it more, not less. I use both XP and Linux, and prefer Linux. I find it easier to deal with, and quicker on the same hardware.

Yay! Great price --just bought one. I've been thinking about buying a netbook for a while, just to tinker around with. A this price, it can't be beat. This will be my first time using Linux -- if it doesn't go well I'll just use TinyXP. I'm a little worried about the tiny keyboard -- I've tested them before and know that my hands are simply too big -- but it should be good enough for quick messages and tweets. Let's face it, I'm not writing novels over here.

I ordered the dell inspiron 15n that was featured in this blog a couple weeks ago. It came loaded with the linux ubuntu OS and I love it. This was my first introduction to the linux as well. After ordering, I upgraded from 8.10 to 9.04. Very intuitive and easy to use. I mainly use it for web based activities. Makes me wonder if I'll ever pay for windows again...

Can't tell for sure, but this version seems to lack a webcam. Can anyone confirm? I have the 7" version - it's great - but I can repurpose that one and get this one to take advantage of the bigger screen and bigger touchpad. But I need a webcam!

I just ordered a Refurb Dell Inspiron Mini 10V for 255 with a coupon for 15% off. It has a 10" screen, XP home and a 6 cell battery. The Dell Outlet also has free shipping so all I had to do was pay the tax. This is probably a better deal for most folks then the Asus since new these things are well over 300 and probably closer to 400.

WAISTE OF TIME. i would rather have you get a refurb iphone 3g for 79. this comp is made of intel celeron a waste product of intel. and a 4 gb hdd half ths size of iphone 8gb
and with os you are left with less than 2 gb enough for a few songs may be 50. i will only buy it, if i can change hdd and processor. .but i,m not the ***********.Apple does not compromise.

However, this EEE PC won't cost you anything in monthly service fees. Plus the screen is several times larger and has a real physical keyboard. And 3 USB ports. And...
