I would say that Microsoft hasn't exactly abolished the use of booth babes and the blatant sexism the institution represents, but inevitably, sex sells, and by still having these very attractive women present, Microsoft exploits a very powerful tool while creating a more realistic and less objectifying view of women.

The Xbox Live avatar thing... surely I'm not the only one who thinks that's the look and feel of it is kind of a Nintendo Wii ripoff.

They could have done avatars a dozen different ways, but instead they put Nintendo Wii avatars on a different background. Nice one, Microsoft!
Wake me up when Microsoft does something innovative. Besides the Booth Babes.

How about online coop viewing of Netflix streams for free? Saw that one coming?

I would have preferred that you stay asleep. The Miis are completely amorphous. Comparing other avatars to those is just like saying everything tastes like chicken. As only a minor part of their update, it's a nice touch.

Maybe not Wii so much as a cross between that and "Second Life". "Innovation" at work, I suppose...

You're drunk. The MS avatars look nothing like miis! The miis are badly drawn almost stick-figures. The MS avatars are legit looking cartoon characters. They were designed by RARE...whereas I could have drawn the miis. The only similarity is that they both use avatars...and for your information Nintendo didn't create the concept of avatars, so they're copycats also.

yeah the avatar did remind me of the mii's.... but did you see the end about final fantasy coming to xbox. my mouth dropped when i saw that on tv. i'm so excited now

hell yes! Get around that stupid booth babe ban and just have them wearing nice close. Classy and sexxy! lol I don't see why they don't lift than ban and just let them attract more people! E3 shouldn't die. Or if it does lose its footing even more than it already has, what will replace it?

Microsoft says "Mii Too!"

That's what the title of this article should have been, because (almost) everything else was a non sequitur. There's going to be another sequel to "Guitar Hero" and "Guitar Hero with more schwag" . . shocking . . or not. Even the band/song announcements are yawners. Although it is telling that they are going after so many bands that haven't been popular since Gen X'ers stopped buying music. Almost everything else was already known/announced. I mean it's nice to hear that they've set ship dates to get games in stores by Christmas, but then there wasn't ever really any doubt about that marketing scheme either?

Booth Babes are probably the second most interesting thing (followed closely by FF for those who are fans of the franchise) So at least there was something else to deflect attention from Microsoft trying to borrow from the success of the Wii.

i am very disappointed to hear about the exclusivity of Rock Band 2. im also a little cheesed off at Square Enix for taking the money and releasing FFXIII for 360. reminds me of Capcom, actually...

Ah but i guess all's fair in love and war, i just wish Sony would take a page from Microsoft's book and start trying to buy studios and game exclusivity, even if they most likely dont have a large enough installed base to pull it off.

I'm ok with everyone have their piece of the pie, i just hope Sony, and not nintendo, will be the Apple-type company in the future, keeping a loyal base and remaining profitable in an arena dominated by microsoft.

that or something terribly convenient could happen to Microsoft Games, like the 360 being proven to cause cancer or the head could embezzle all the money and flee to the bahamas. one can only hope ^^,

None of you are all that bright huh? Did nintendo create avatars??? No! If you want to say anyone copied anyone it is every console that has an online component...because as we all know xbox live was the first online application for a console.

You sound like little babies. Grow up.

I Gotta Say out of the big Three press conference I'm gonna lean toward microsoft winning this one since no one ever expected Final fantasy 13 to be announced as a multiplatform game and coming to the 360.

I'm actually looking forward to all the games announced for the 360 especially fallout 3 since it's getting exclusive downloadable content.

Microsoft did a good job at convincing me to keep playing my 360.
