Comments on: Going thin on Road Trip 2008 with the MacBook Air

After a couple of years using a MacBook Pro every day, it was a nice change of pace to work on a MacBook Air for a month, despite some problems.

This article is apparently from a Mac Airhead. There are lighter and better laptops in the PC world that have more flexibility and equal or better performance.

"Mac Airhead." Hoo. Such a funny guy must certainly be quite knowledgeable about computers.

The overheating has been a problem since the beginning. I found having better airflow helps a little, but even then I rarely watch movies on it. The format of the movie also makes a difference. A 10 minute youtube video on full-screen seems to affect it more than 30 minutes of mpeg2.

As stated by maximum PC, and this is coming for a PC user, the mac's are better at the high-end as they give users the option of using the Mac OS or any other x86 based OS. The issue with this is price. If you have the cash to fork out for a mac book or an Air (aka err{or}) then you have to go to the high-end models to actually out perform a mid range PC notebook. But with that come a much higher price tag.

How did you find the battery life? I take a Macbook (non-Pro) travelling and find a spare battery is essential, since between several airports and trains I may be away from a power socket for 6 hours or more. Did you use it more in hotels with a power socket, and less actually on the road?

Aaaaaand, they run Windows! Bye bye flexibility and peformance (from the human perspective, which is more important than megahertz)

I'm sure the 24-hour limit is imposed by the studios.

I think I would call myself an Apple fanboy considering i would probably buy anything with an apple logo on it. After owning the MacBook Air for two weeks I love it and it fits my life perfectly. I find myself changing locations three to four times a week and I love carrying my laptop around with me. I only experienced the overheating once when I was watching a 45 min video that my brother sent me. After using OS X i find my dads vista performance INFERIOR! I probably will never switch back to pc again.
