I don't get their fuzzy math. They have earned 500 million and sold 6 million copies, so that is like $83 per copy. No way. Seems like the average price would be a whole lot closer to $60. I'm sure they have sold a tun and made hundreds of millions, but I think there is some inflation or funny accounting going on here. maybe counting sales to retail chains, and not actual customers or something????

im pretty sure the wrath of the lich king is going to have a big hit, how many people have a pc or mac in their houses again? and i dont think MGS 4 is going to be a big hit since only 10 million ps3s r sold (i think thats how many dreamcast systems were sold...) i think the wii fit is going to be a big hit or spore (since 20million wiis r sold)

I am not sure where it falls over all, but lets not forget the waves that World of Warcraft is making. I have a feeling their numbers of units sold are quite high, though it has been a slow gain. But, for 3 years straight, the game keeps selling and more and more people join.

it doesn't sound like none of you people play videogames. Halo may be dumbed down, but this game talks intelligently about the drug world and makes many political jokes. It takes an ID to buy it. Stop being lazy parents and quit all your complaining about the adult content. If you watched your children you would know what kind of stuff they are watching. SIMPLE AS THAT! Isn't that called parenting. On top of that, all of you with negative GTA comments sound like you don't even play videogames in the first place. LOL at "Add on name recognition, negative publicity and a decent game interface and you have the makings of a half a billion dollar winner" C'mon ya right. If only that easy. This game has superNERDS Lucas Arts euphoria engine. Gimme a break people.

This game (and all games in this genre) should be pulled from the shelves. There is no reason to sell a game that glamorizes violence such as games in this genre. To think that it is a top seller worries me -- where is our society going when murder and mayhem is called "entertainment"?

cquick01 you should know more about the GTA series before you say anything... i will admit that gta3 and vicecity is pretty heavily based on murder, but since the last one san dreas and now gta 4, the developer have included many other game modes that does not include murder and mayhem, such as racing and dating, taxi driving, boxing etc. Although it does include excessive violence, you should take a look at other games such as silent hill or doom series or even call of duty 4, all of these games have violence as their central theme, it is not fair to ban any game just because it is violent, the most you can do is R rate the game, which they did, so you need not worry about people being influenced by it.

As to "where is our society going when murder and mayhem is called 'entertainment'?'' Human have long entertained themselves from the coloussus to the wrestle rings with violence, and our society is going fine as it is. Plus, now we have came up with an ingenius way of not involving real living beings to satisfy our needs, why abolish it?

I welcome your counter argument anytime
