Comments on: Burning Man ceases selling tickets at its gate

It also appears that, for the first time, there could be a limit on the number of tickets available.

I don't think burning man is for me, though i think if i went with some of my friends it would be cool. Kind of like the Malcolm in the middle episode.

Everthing that made it cool is gone.

What made it cool when it first started would never survive the evolution into the corporate world that the event has just made.

Some things can't last and other things come along to replace them. What's next?
gate?

Of course I have never been. I am east coaster and likely a bit too old for it. My burning man was dead tour. I do have to ask though, how on earth do they put a gate up in the desert? I have checked out some of the websites over the years and it does look like great fun. This is the first time I understood they even sold tickets.

Peace,
Tom

The last road to Burning Man is not getting any bigger.

Last year was my 8th Burning Man, I left around 10pm on Sunday, thinking I would beat the crowds to leave, no such luck. I saw lots of accidents, it's just not safe to have all those people on that road, I had to pull over twice and nap, otherwise I might fall asleep at the wheel. I know some hard core burners will say, "safety?, read the back or your ticket, you assume risk of death and injury." To that I say we are a community, and that we should promote the health and well being of everyone. That road just can't unlimited traffic safely. And a higher percentage of last minute, at the door ticket buyers are probably the same yahoos that leave beer bottles in port o podies that create a danger for those guys that pump our **** out for us so that Burning Man can happen. The most likely reason for Burning Man to stop happening will be an inability to get people to clean out the port o podies.
