At the satellite radio company--should we call it Sirius XM Radio?--big programming changes are starting to shake things up. Are the cost savings impacting you?

Web sites launch all the time, but they also shut their doors. We highlight 15 that bit the dust this year.
Let the debate begin: Was the iPhone more important than iTunes? Was anything bigger than Google finding a great business model? CNET offers its list of the 10 most important stories of the '00s.
Ex movie theater projectionist Steve Guttenberg has more or less successfully hitched his future to home theater, but he still pines for the clickity-clack of 35 MM projectors and all the stale popcorn he could eat. Between projectionist gigs he worked as a high-end audio salesman for sixteen years, and produced records for an audiophile label. Oh, and one more thing, nothing annoys Steve more than being confused with the other Steve Guttenberg, the washed-up Police Academy actor. The wordsmith Guttenberg is a frequent contributor to a number of magazines and websites including Home Entertainment, Playback, and Ultimate AV. He is a member of the CNET Blog Network and is not an employee of CNET. Disclosure.

I used the online account to tryout new stations. Can't do that anymore.
It looks like I will cancel at the end of my contract. Its too bad since I spent big $$ for a custom installed system in my car. I'm looking at other options now.
I always considered Sirius Disorder to be the flagship or (one of the hubs) of the Sirius Satellite radio.
The reason I think was that there was always a DJ personality spinning the songs- and you could tell as a listener that they were free to play what they wanted.l As a listener, we were along for the ride when Ghosty, or Meg Griffin, or Larry Kirwin and the rest of these talented DJ's and avid music fans
were in charge... That is alot different than "The Loft", which seems to be programmed from a computer and seems to be designed to not offend, and sooth with boring songs!.... The yahoos in charge don't seem to understand what this format was all about- as a listener and fan, I listened because it
was something I couldn't find on radio.... now, I'm not sure this is any better than spinning my own
tunes on my ipod. I will likely cancel as my subscription is up this month.... I've been a huge fan of Sirius for about 3 years now- to be told that my favorite channel is gone and replaced with a lame format like "The Loft" is hard for me to get over.
The company claims that the programming decisions were largely not made with financial considerations in mind ? and that the haters are outnumbered by the silent majority of happy listeners. "There are people who didn't like the Beatles or Elvis when they came out," says Sirius' Greenstein. "There were de minimis complaints, I mean minor. The ones that did complain were loud and had a lot of time on their hands to do it." Presumably because they weren't listening to the radio.
"a lot of time on their hands"
"people who didn't like the Beatles or Elvis"
I have three jobs and I love Sirius Disorder, but that little email I sent as a three radio subscriber suddenly renders me out of touch and a slacker!! How arrogant and insulting!! Way to go Sirius, you just insulted one of your strongest advocates and supporters. Salt in the wound.

- THANK GOD THERE IS SOMEONE ELSE OUT THERE WHO FREAKED WHEN MEG WAS STRICKEN DOWN. when the merger went down, i searched for disorder and couldn't find it. i called some service guy and he said the loft and the vault would be the same music. thought i'd die. the weakness of those stations. well, i got into politics and made it through early winter and today was just tired of talk radio and so i was skipping through and found a song that seemed doable and low and below there she was. and the whole gang is back. awesome. i truly was going to cancel my sirius radio subscription. i wish there was a way for me to contact meg and let her know how happy i was to find her today on the loft.
