I will upgrade to a receiver with hdmi in the near future.
For now my Hitachi HDS-69 plasma handles all the video switching aided by a logitech xbox/harmony remote. This works well for now but will be a pain when I go to wall mount my plasma.

Currently connected to a Yamaha HTR-5935 receiver:

Toshiba HD-D2 HD-DVD player "audio only"
Motorola HD-DVR "audio only"
Wii "audio only"
Xbox 360 "audio only"
Toshiba SD-K620 DVD player "audio only"

My current receiver powers 5 Definitive Technology speakers well enough. My next receiver will have a minimum of 3 HDMI inputs.

I currently have Yamaha RXV-2500 that has my Sharp 52" LCD, Toshiba HD DVD, PS3, & DirectTV DVR connected via digital optical cable. DVD/VHS recorder & up-convert DVD connected via coaxial cable. I have a large selection of records of CD's that I rarely listen to anymore. So CD player and turntable are collecting dust. Instead I use Rhapsody for music. Rather than small sounding PC speakers, I use Hi-Fi Link USB adapter connected to an old Stereo receiver from the 70's with a set of book shelf speakers. Sometimes I will plug my MP3 player into the Yamaha or listen to XM radio thru DirecTV. The PS3 belongs to my son, so I will probably get a Blu Ray player when he moves out.. I bought the Yamaha thinking it was future proof (lol) but it does not have HDMI inputs so I eventually will have to replace it if I want to take advantage of lossless audio.

About The Audiophiliac

Ex movie theater projectionist Steve Guttenberg has more or less successfully hitched his future to home theater, but he still pines for the clickity-clack of 35 MM projectors and all the stale popcorn he could eat. Oh, and one more thing, nothing annoys Steve more than being confused with the other Steve Guttenberg, the washed-up Police Academy actor.
