San Francisco is the IT conference capitol of the world and the Moscone Center is absolutely beautiful and fun. Since I unfortunately can't be there, I'll be watching online. Have fun people.

It seems people have forgotten the big thing. The next software update for iphone and..............Ipod touch!!! I swear people have gone and forgotten about the touch all together. All people care about is the update for the iphone. Not even apple talks about it for the touch. And tell me this, A while back, apple released a letter explaining why they charged for the 1.1.3 update for the touch, now the are charging for it again. JUST FOR THE TOUCH????? Excuse me, it is a MAJOR UPDATE for BOTH devices so BOTH should have to pay for the update, or not at all. Apple is a money stealing company. They may seem good but the stuff they mac is worth A LOT less than what they charge for.

As an iPhone owner, one also has to continually pay the additional 20-40 dollars a month just for unlimited internet on such a slow network, which in itself is a crime, and therefore, the iPhones shouldn't be charged to update. I personally think the iTouch is a waste of money. It's limited to only certain things, and when it's only 100 dollars more for an iPhone, why not get the iPhone? It surely is quite the incentive to switch networks, if that's the case. this charging for updating on the iTouch is karma for settling for something that's such a mockery of what the iPhone is.

Budsully13: Please read up some on accounting...
The reason they charge for the Touch is that it was an upfront sale, whereas the iPhone is booked over 24 months, which allows Apple to give new options to end-users for free on the iPhone but as a sale to the Touch.
It is similar to the issue on upgrading to Wifi N-standard on the MacBook Pro's, where Apple charged a nominal fee.
Again, this has nothing to do with Apple, this has to do with US-Government, Tax and Accounting Regulations.

The actual price of the new apple iphone 3G = $399!

The published price being advertised all over for the new apple iphone 3G is $199?what they are not telling you is that price is only for new ATT customers and those current ATT customers who happen to be eligible for an equipment upgrade (according to ATT, upgrade eligibility is ?generally? determined by the amount of time remaining on a current contract). For all those current ATT customers who do not happen to be at the end of their contract, the actual price for you is $399 plus an $18 upgrade fee along with a new 2-year contract. ATT is penalizing their long-time, account in good standing, customers a whopping $200. Why is the actual price of the new iphone not being advertised for what it is?$399? It?s the same price as the old iphone with an increase in the data plan.
