Why in the world does an MP3 player need a camera?

Why do you need an MP3 Player? Besides an iPod is much more than a mere "MP3 Player."

lol... my HTC Touch Pro 2 does all of iphone and IpodTouch combined. Best part is it's loaded with pre-paid SIM card =>Freedom of movement (legally unlocked). Do i need iphone and stuck with 2 years contract + $30 internet fee? NO! do i need iTouch w/camera to listen to music? NO!
I'm saving $$ to buy a Sony Ericsson Satio (Idou) soon.

Of course the one thing an HTC Touch 2 can't do, is hold more than 16GB without switching out an micro SD card. Other than though, it is a nice alternative to a iPhone. I wish they were more widely spread in the US so that I could "play" around with one, although WinMo 6.1 is kind of downer for me.

Sorry for the grammar omission. I meant to say "Other than that though". It's still early LOL.

HTC Touch Pro 2 is over $600 with NO memory to speak of! You still have to buy a memory card to do anything. And no Windows Mobile Marketplace yet available for mobile applications. You will have to rely on developers or other third party software retailers.

Love the screen resolution, but resistive technology?

The camera is only a good feature if it's a good camera that can do just as well as the average camera on the market place. It should also support high resolutions (and high quality) and what not. If not then it's not worth it and you might as well just buy a normal camera.

I mean the DSI has a camera but that still wasn't a good enough reason for me to buy one or upgrade to it from an old DS.

A Microphone would be a better feature to add to a Ipod touch, but that would ruin the reason to buy an iphone.

Bah, I'm dying for this to be ADDED into the Touch. This, and the camera. Though I do agree with you. But still.

No one knows for sure since Apple generally does not pre-announce new products.

However, since the last two generations of the iPod touch were announced in September in special music-focused events, it seems likely that the 3rd generation iPod touch will be announced this September.

Assuming this part is identical to the one being used in the iPhone 3GS, it probably means that some would be used for the new iPod touch and some would be used for ongoing manufacturing of the iPhone 3GS.

If this is true, then I'm happy. I'm already bored to death with the iPod Touch I bought last year, already sold it. If the Touch can get a microphone embedded into it, then I'm totally sold. That's the thing I loved about the iPhone the most. Nowadays I'm regretting not keeping the iPhone when my family switched to those pricks at AT&T. I hate my Shine. No matter how pretty it is.

I won't be able to upgrade to an iPhone till next mid-August. So hopefully the next iPod Touch will be a good one, though I hope it's reasonable in terms of price.

Have any of you heard of the Mifi card (Verizon). With the Mifi card and iPod touch+Skype I have almost got rid of my cell phone. Many of you that says the iPhone Touch does not come close to the iPhone are all wrong. Plain wrong. I can make and receive calls with my Ipod Touch anywhere in the world, basically unlimited. I do not have to pay for costly plans, and I always have access to WiFi connecttion with the Mifi card and the iPhone Touch, much faster than the iPhone since the IPhone does not have a built in wireless broadband router so it has to rely on a hotspot for boradband connection.

I have the best of both worlds, the iPod Touch with Mifi card and also Blackberry phone. My IPhone friends are jealous. Cost of Mifi card per month ($59.95) unlimited calls with IPod Touch with Skype in/out with my own phone number. Cost of iPhone per month, about $160 per month (limited wifi connectivity). Plus I have the added benefit to connect to the net with my laptop simultaneously via wifi (wireless broadband) while I talk with my iPhone Touch. About Pandora, GPS, and other services works like a charm with the Touch + Mifi card.
